Was "The Legend of Bagger Vance" a Racist movie?

As a general rule I avoid Will Smith movies. Although The Fresh Prince was a decent show. Never saw Legend Of Bagger Vance, but it sounds like will played the role of “magical negro”.

I Am Legend was a pretty good movie.

Didn’t see that one. The one that I saw that was pretty good was Men In Black. I mean not Oscar worthy or anything, but entertaining. Independence Day was also decent. I Thought Will Smith’s performance in Concussion was laughable. And he wanted an Oscar for it lol
Independence Day and I am Legend are good movies. I liked Men in Black, I saw it opening night with a hot blonde.
Will Smith trying to be James West? AKA Robert Conrad? Errrmmmm, no.
No Artimus, either. Fail!
He leads in a lot of solid action flicks. I enjoyed I Am Legend and Men in Black. Hancock was a lot of fun, too, as was that Gemini Man that just came out recently. Dude's a good actor. He was excellent in 7 Pounds, though that movie was practically tragedy porn, it was so sad. I liked him a lot in Pursuit of Happiness, too.

Enemy of the State was one of my favorite movies of all time, though Tony Scott and Gene Hackman had a big hand in that as well.
He's a good actor.

i loved his song, for men in black. as a fantasy geek, i was very disappointed that he did not do something similar for Bright.

which, was badly hurt by current politics. but once it got past that, did ok.

i have high hopes for the sequel.

This is one of my favorite golf movies. I saw it again the other day, but given the current state of affairs, I wondered if this would now be considered a Racist movie. Even though Will Smith's character is the all-knowing almost angelic figure in the movie, he is the subservient caddie to Matt Damon. What do you think, is this OK or does this movie need to be pulled or otherwise accompanied with a warning?

Its pretty much the only movie Will Smith has done that I havent watched. Not because its racist but because I had no wish to watch a Black man serve a white man.

You've missed a number of educational books and lectures. You like watching movies. I like education.

You have misjudged the movie. Will Smith was his teacher, not his caddie.

Now I really dont want to watch it. Obviously Will Smith is playing the role of the magical negro. Basically he is a good luck piece. It was set in racist Georgia and has another actor in it that I dont want to end up disliking.

Whole lot of judging going on. Kind of the same thing you do with White people in general.

Theres always a lot of judging going on. I always make a judgement call on things I allow to imprint on my mind. Thats the reason they call TV programming. I dont allow myself to become programmed by things I am against.

i do need to read more non-fiction and watch less tv. you are correct about that.

but, i am correct that your.... odd concerns have cost you some good entertainment.

Entertainment is subjective. What you find as entertaining may be boring and trite to me. You would know that if you spent more time being educated.
