Was "The Legend of Bagger Vance" a Racist movie?

The Southwestern Desert
This is one of my favorite golf movies. I saw it again the other day, but given the current state of affairs, I wondered if this would now be considered a Racist movie. Even though Will Smith's character is the all-knowing almost angelic figure in the movie, he is the subservient caddie to Matt Damon. What do you think, is this OK or does this movie need to be pulled or otherwise accompanied with a warning?

As a general rule I avoid Will Smith movies. Although The Fresh Prince was a decent show. Never saw Legend Of Bagger Vance, but it sounds like will played the role of “magical negro”.

Definitely racist. Should never be shown again.

Not in my mind but it's getting so that if any blacks are shown at all in a movie it's racist. Seems to me they're losing rather than gaining ground.

I Am Legend was a pretty good movie.

Didn’t see that one. The one that I saw that was pretty good was Men In Black. I mean not Oscar worthy or anything, but entertaining. Independence Day was also decent. I Thought Will Smith’s performance in Concussion was laughable. And he wanted an Oscar for it lol

Independence Day and I am Legend are good movies. I liked Men in Black, I saw it opening night with a hot blonde.
Will Smith trying to be James West? AKA Robert Conrad? Errrmmmm, no.
No Artimus, either. Fail!

The Wild Wild West. Had no interest in that one. Kevin Kline is a good actor though

He leads in a lot of solid action flicks. I enjoyed I Am Legend and Men in Black. Hancock was a lot of fun, too, as was that Gemini Man that just came out recently. Dude's a good actor. He was excellent in 7 Pounds, though that movie was practically tragedy porn, it was so sad. I liked him a lot in Pursuit of Happiness, too.

Enemy of the State was one of my favorite movies of all time, though Tony Scott and Gene Hackman had a big hand in that as well.

Looking back, Independence Day kinda sucked after the beginning invasion scenes. There's this clip on Youtube of this stand up comedian breaking it down beautifully. Remember the alien that broke out of Area 51 by taking over the scientist's minds? Will Smith knocked it out with one punch while it was wearing space armor.

Will Smith has played in some good movies. Some choices not so good. And Wild Wild West was a screw up. The TV show was a classic.
