THEY CALLED A COP TO MAKE KIDS STOP SINGING CHRISTMAS CAROLS!?

Silent night for fear of offending Jew

A school choir was told to stop singing carols at a show featuring a Jewish ice skater because officials feared she would be offended.

The Rubidoux High School Madrigals in Riverside, California, broke off in the middle of God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman at a rink where Sasha Cohen, a US Olympic medal winner, was performing in front of fans.

Staci Della-Rocco, the director of the choir, said she complied with the request by a city council employee and police officer to silence the children because "I didn't want to have a big old huge scene in front of my kids".

advertisement"This request was simply made by a staff member who was attempting to be sensitive to the celebrity guest, without considering the wider implications... or consulting with her supervisor for guidance," said Belinda Graham, the city development director.

Cohen, 22, however, was "stunned" to learn the choir had been ordered to stop singing on her account, her mother said.

The 2006 Olympic silver medallist is half-Christian and "celebrates everything" at this time of year, said Galina Cohen. "Sasha was stunned. We both thought the voices were just lovely, they were doing such a wonderful job. Christmas carols are part of celebrating the holiday season."

Ron Loveridge, the mayor of Riverside, has apologised to the choir. He called the incident "unfortunate".

His Honor can show his true sorrow by FIRING the person or persons responsible for this debacle.

Oh good grief. An overly sensitive individual wishes to halt songs about Jesus for the sake of a Jewish guest and you act as though the sky is falling. The right wing cries for the heads of the leftist people who make mistakes but when a right-winger makes a mistake an apology should be enough. The double standard is stunning. Anyway, you will find what you want to find and blow events out of proportion but, all things considered, there is no real war on Christmas. Here is something for you to chew on.

The right-wing crusade against the liberal "war on Christmas" is great for rallying the troops. Too bad the war doesn't exist.

I'd point out that it wasn't the half-Jewish skater who made the request to stop the singing. It was a silly judgment call by someone who actually celebrates the holiday.

Kinda goofy, really. But goofier still to think this is part of any imaginary War on Christmas. :cuckoo:

Geez, Matt, I thought you'd be happy that I am learning how to react like a true lib. The real stunning hypocrisy is how you don't like the calls for firings when the tables are finally turned.

You are right about Sasha, she isn't the problem here.

I've said this before on the board, but I'll repeat it here. No, it's not a war on Christmas. It's a war on Christianity, and Christmas is just one of the more obvious skirmishes.

In fact, there is no war on Christmas. What there is, rather, is a burgeoning myth of a war on Christmas, assembled out of old reactionary tropes, urban legends, exaggerated anecdotes and increasingly organized hostility to the American Civil Liberties Union. It's a myth that can be self-fulfilling, as school board members and local politicians believe the false conservative claim that they can't celebrate Christmas without getting sued by the ACLU and thus jettison beloved traditions, enraging citizens and perpetuating a potent culture-war meme. This in turn furthers the myth of an anti-Christmas conspiracy.

Bottom Line: There is no war on Christianity. There is no war on Christmas. There are merely some isolated incidences of extreme “political correctness” blown way out of proportion by the reactionary religious right.

Those who deny the war on Christmas are cheered as cheeky.

Those who deny the Holocaust are... put in jail.

Were you saying something about double standards?

You're comparing your paranoid fantasy that there's a "war on Christmas" with the holocaust.

You really are sick. I hope you find help someday. I'll pray for you. (Bet that would REALLY piss you off).

Perhaps you can explain to us the correct proportion in which to deal with

some isolated incidences of extreme “political correctness”

Explain extreme “political correctness” while you at it.

Nothing to do with a ‘War On Christmas’ at all. IMO

This is nothing more than a glaring example of no common sense and the inability to think.

What do you expect from a government employee, intelligence?

Oh. There are those stores that chose to use “Seasons Greetings” banners instead of “Merry Christmas” so not to offend non-Christians. They did not mean to remove Christmas as to include non-Christians in their “well-wishing”. The busybodies of the Religious Right just went crazy about it.

Here are some of the latest examples on the war on Christmas Jilly. I know your lawyer buds make alot of money of this war, but it shows how intolerant how libs are

In Illinois, state government workers were forbidden from saying the words “Merry Christmas” while at work

In Rhode Island, local officials banned Christians from participating in a public project to decorate the lawn of City Hall

A New Jersey school banned even instrumental versions of traditional Christmas carols

Arizona school officials ruled it unconstitutional for a student to make any reference to the religious history of Christmas in a class project

CNSNews.com reports that a Christmas-themed event to raise money at a public elementary school in Warwick, N.Y., has been altered to accommodate a parent's complaints that the program would illegally spotlight a "religious" figure - Santa Claus. "Breakfast With Santa" has since been changed to "Winter Wonderland Breakfast," and -- in an effort to be inclusive of all beliefs -- the bearded one will now be joined at the Dec. 9 event by Frosty the Snowman.

Theresa Farrisi stood in for Schaeffer’s regular music teacher one day last week. One of her assignments was to read Clement C. Moore’s famous poem, “A Visit from Saint Nicholas” to a first-grade class at Lickdale Elementary School.

“The poem has great literary value, but it goes against my conscience to teach something which I know to be false to children, who are impressionable,” said Farrisi, 43, of Myerstown. “It’s a story. I taught it as a story. There’s no real person called Santa Claus living at the North Pole.”

Yes, libs are such a joy to be with. If you have taken a strong dose of Pepto Bismol in advance

Nice. You found a few isolated incidences of PC (political correctness). It must have taken you a while to search. Look long and hard enough and you will probably find what you are looking for. I’m sure that if I did some searching I could find examples of people trying to silence our shout down those of other religions.

Christianity is suffering the same discrimination that the white American male is. It can be offensive to everything but nothing can be offensive to it. It is the affirmative action target of religion because it's long history of being a majority, popular and powerful. In it's desire to make everything equal, the culture of communism/socialism attacks the majority and most powerful first. I guess the defense is that these insititutions just happened to be so large that they naturally just "got in the way" first?

Just whose politics are we talking about when we use the term " politically correct" ?

There are alot more. Check out my other threads and you will see more examples.

Libs will look you straight in the eye and lie like hell when they say there is no war on Christmas - despite the examples that pop up year after year

No Matt, just like you found the preponderance of the ACLU's cases regarding separation vs. establishment, so you could easily find the same with this. You sir are a fake.

Its been well documented, that the rush to the left has created a void of common sense.

Do I REALLY need to provide links?

This country has lost all sense of direction, and due in no small part to situations as outlined by the original post.

I'm sure its not a far leap to comprehend such a notion.

Though I think there are leaps made by BOTH sides of the political agenda, the left seems the most DISCONECTED.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the left is completely attached to attacking long standing and traditional institutions. Rationalizing thier actions has been difficult for them but the youth in our schools are easy prey.

I'll tell you what's sick.

Sick is the level of Jewish arrogance that puts their sufferings above everyone else's. Sick is calling someone ill for daring to compare the almighty, holy blessed special Jews with the lowly worthless Christians. Sick is declaring that you and you alone have the right to determine what can and can't compared. Sick is feeling so damn superior that you are in a position to "pray" for someone you disagree with, with what must be your special and exclusive hotline to God. Sick is knowing you can't even say the foregoing aloud in our society without being hammered to death by the forces of political correctness.

That's sick.

Here's a Jewish judge in Canada ordering a Christmas tree removed:
