Used to be that if your leadership started specifically doing things that everyone knew was going to start a war....you became just like France and killed your kings.

A nation's leadership only exists with support of the people.

You supported leaders because they grew the population, made people wealthier through their hard work, and got along well with the neighboring kingdoms.

You didn't sit at home with no job, eating the king's benevolence, whining that you aren't eating at the king's table itself. And you generally liked your monarch. He/she was smart, did things regularly that benefitted the entire kingdom....not just a wealthy few. Because those wealthy few ALWAYS did something dumb that made them not wealthy anymore. (Trump even went bankrupt a few times....Xerox, Kodak, IBM, EF Hutton and etc are prime examples of wealthy elite going bankrupt).
