Trump called on Nato allies to support his Iran war - else they "will face a very bad future".
Merz answered this is not a Nato matter and Germany will not enter the war. He added that they don´t have the means to do so, anyway.
"U.S. President Donald Trump warned NATO allies they face a “very bad future” if they refuse to help secure the Strait of Hormuz, pressing Europe to support an American effort to reopen the key maritime corridor."
“It’s only appropriate that people who are the beneficiaries of the strait will help to make sure that nothing bad happens there,” says U.S. president as Iran war drags on.

"Merz said that as long as the war continues, Germany would not participate in ensuring free navigation in the Strait of Hormuz by military means. "To this day, we are also unaware of any concept for how such an operation could even succeed.""

"As reported, Macron previously said that
France could take part in an international "protective" mission to escort merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump said he had spoken with Macron about the issue.
"On a scale of 0 to 10, I would rate it an 8. Not perfect, but this is France," the American president said.
He also said that he "does not put pressure" on allies regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
"My position is this: we don't need anyone. We are the strongest state in the world. We undoubtedly have the strongest armed forces in the world. We don't need them. But interestingly, in some cases, I almost do it not because we need them, but because I want to know how they react," Trump added."
