Walmart, the largest retailer in the nation, has announced it is raising prices because of President Donald Trump's tariffs.

The retail giant said on Thursday that it may absorb some of the import taxes, but it is still raising prices to offset increased costs resulting from Trump's ill-advised trade war.

DAMNIT….that sucks.
Looks like Mexico’s people will have to return to Mexico to avoid higher costs….nobody else shops at Walmart…right?

I fear WalMart is using tariffs as a convenient scapegoat to boost margins. Two thirds of the goods they sell are made in the US. They could easily absorb the increase of costs like they did in 2019 if they weren't so greedy now.

Opinion piece. Not news.

The W-word raises prices all the time and still calls them a deal. There is nothing new here !

One question I have is....why aren't the items not being broken down on a chart.

For example apples...seasonally might be carrying a price increase but what about tennis rackets and paperclips ?

I will gladly pay a small percentage higher in the short term to get better trade deals and return some amount of manufacturing back here in the long run.

All of you act like the only thing that matters is prices don't rise, even though the largest reason for low prices is the use of SLAVE LABOR. You know - something you all are supposed to give a damn about.

Walmart’s net margin is 2-3%. So is Costco’s. Target’s is about 4-5%.

There is zero room for not raising prices.

This is on Trump.

This is a poverty tax.
That’s great news…Do you think tariffs will run some of Mexico’s people back to their disgusting shithole?

Where was all of this piss and vinegar when all of that legislation that printed trillions and trillions of dollars and got us all near nothing in return except inflation? All of those Prog cities and states running huge deficits as they closed down and even killed some of their senior citizens as an offering to moloch. We got to know what the loss of unalienable rights are though. Never forget the Prog citizens and how they acted and reacted during Covid. Never help any of them.
