Walmart Says It's Raising Prices Because of Trump's Tariffs

yet they will absorb them. It still says that. Can you comprehend your post?
Then I'd ask, are you suggesting that Walmart has never raised their prices? Didn't they raise egg prices, milk, beer, gas, meat? No tariffs. You seemed trapped in TDS.

And the same people reporting this news are the same ones who made no mention of the 40% increase of prices on all consumer goods due to democrat policy of the previous administration.
Only retarded people are too stupid to see through this propaganda, OP.

demofks are simply hypocrites who don't have any ethics. Zip.

What I want to know is why they increased the price of eggs.

Point is -- How much is Walmart raising prices?

A lot of companies flooded China with orders BEFORE Trump hit them with Tariffs and then didn't bother to order anything during the actual Trade War when he had 130% Tariffs on them.

A likely scenario is this..... Hoo Flung Poo sells Rubber Duckies to Wally World for $100. Wally World has them Direct Shipped (Direct buying) so there's not really a middle man. Wally World wants a 50% Gross Profit Margin on them, so they sell them for $200.

All that has changed since OMB put a 30% tariff on everything. So HFP sells them to WW for $95 and WW decides they can live with a 45% GPM and lists them for $211.

Which works out to just over a 5% Price Increase. Whoopi-Freaking-Doopie. Nobody is really unhappy. Except for the DISGUSTING FILTH. Who are more stupid than unhappy

Journalism in this Country is dead, Its practitioners are just simply too stupid.
I dont know the status of direct shipping

Trump closed that loophole but that was weeks ago and I’m not sure now

At the very least tariffs will apply to small packages when they used to not be

My understaning of direct buying/direct shipping, is that you, as the buyer, take possession of the Container(s) at your place of business. In Walmart's case, at one of many regional distribution centers. They do this to avoid Middle-Man costs if they are Landed in Kaliphony and have to be handled from there.

With Direct Buyin/Shipping you pay taxes and Duties where you take possession. I have only a Layman's understanding of how it works, and that little bit of knowledge is dated.

Most products from China are landed in Kaliphony; and that is where duties and taxes are paid. You can avoid the hassle, stupidity and costs of Kaliphony retards by having them direct shipped. It's a thang... :dunno:

Container Ship to port, drops Cotainer on a Container Truck or Rail Car and the sealed container isn't opened until it reaches your destination. Where you have to pay duties and taxes. No Middle Man. But it's a hassle dealing with the Port Man (unfortunately not Natalie). Which is why not everybody does it.

Retail has mostly gone through existing pre-tariff inventories and now have to pay more to replace it.

This needs to end very soon.
In its exuberance over progress the market seems to have forgotten those pesky tariffs remaining on Chinese imports.

Shoppers got a little relief this week from a giant tariff on previously cheap, duty-free goods from China. But the tariffs that do remain are still poised to derail the shopping habits of millions of Americans who shop at ultra-low-priced e-commerce sites like Shein and Temu.

The Trump administration has cut its tariff on “de minimis” packages, or shipments of goods worth $800 or less, coming in from China from 120% to 54% and slashed the rate from 145% to 30% for packages from commercial carriers. A $100 flat-fee option also won’t surge to $200 per postal item come June 1, as was previously planned, according to an executive order issued Monday and which goes into effect after midnight on Wednesday.

The change is emblematic of the state of the US-China trade war. The relationship is improving, but it still has further to go before it’s back to pre-January levels. On Wednesday, China rolled back its overall tariffs on US goods to 10% for 90 days, while US levies on the vast majority of Chinese products have gone down to 30% for that period. The US tariffs come on top of levies that were already in place before US President Donald Trump began his second term.

Do you ever think to do some research on subjects you're unsure of? By the intellectual level of your posts I'd say not. See post #50.

There's no way to know what actual information makes it into Trump's skull, but hopefully someone around him at least TRY to tell him what's going on.

the thingy is that the 145% was only in effect for two days. oh boy!

I sure am glad he isn't listening to the same folks Biden was beholden to.

Currently, China’s tariffs are higher on our products and our tariffs are higher on their products.

Exactly what is better right now?

You really don't understand what is going on. Its pretty sad. You really need to evaluate the "experts" from which you get advice.

For your sake, I hope you didn't follow victim to the tariff freakout of those on your side of the aisle and sell everything during the dip a few weeks ago.

I am talking about companies like TEMU which take orders and ship small packages direct from china to the US

Yet again the independent thinker shows his unthinking devotion to Trump.

You avoided the question. What is better right now?

Tariffs on Chinese imports are at 30%. Tariffs on US imports into China are at 10%. When Trump took office, tariffs on Chinese imports was at 19.3%. Tariffs on US imports into China were at 21.2%. Also, the new tariffs don't apply to all goods.
