Portland is not about Hong Kong clearly. Hundreds of thousands in a Hong Kong protest are widely noted media events. 100 Portland, OR, various group members--on a street march in a sympathetic neighborhood: Better compares to a pep rally for a high school football event.
A North Portland demonstration featured no interaction between police and protesters. But a South Portland protest outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building featured familiar run-ins between protesters and law enforcement officers.

There are no such pep rallies this year--easily making Portland, OR a spectacle. The arrests are not so widely reported as the usual Friday night MIP's and substance abuse problems. Those were reported at the protests at the beginning of summer.
Washington DC magnified and incited the early summer events--Actors in Right Wing Militia costume eventually deployed through the neighborhoods in unmarked rental cars--approaching within raping distance, even young boys.
The federal agents now in Portland are the usual, always there. The police get called, three or so protesters get arrested.
Supposing widespread Friday events--not happening? Different outcome happening.
The problem is the Trumped-Up virus--created with a major, "Sitting On Of Hands!"
