Branch Davidian Compound Fire Ends 51-Day Waco Standoff, Kills About 80. Hard to believe Reno just did not order the arrest of Koresh when he was in town on multiple occasions.

"Of course I enjoyed killing Americans. I'm a Democrat, for heaven's sake!"

And I would have handled the assault on the compound far more effectively: I would not have authorized it.

Years ago, the state police barricaded a plyg compound (non-Mormon) in Houston County for three or four years until they snagged the bad guy.

Just a bad, awful deal all around.
I wonder how many millions of taxpayer dollars they spent apprehending a non-violent social criminal.

Literally NO ONE on this thread has said any such thing or even come close to saying that.

Clearly you have no ******* clue what the word consensus means
Everybody here seems to be against the federal government going after David Koresh and trying to save the captive Branch Davidians.

Oh, I get it.

It's because it was Bill Clinton and Janet Reno who went after them.

If this happened under Trump's watch, Hallelujah!

Where do you come up with that? The feds did go after the Davidians and blew it.

There's a very good chance that the OK City Bombing would not have taken place if Reno/Clinton had not gotten their murder on.

Not so sure, I think they were also pissed off at Ruby Ridge.

Still, the Branch Davidians were rightly fucked once they opened fire on Federal agents.

They should have just starved them out, with continual offers to allow the women and children to leave broadcast all times of the day.

There were no captives. No one in government was trying to save anyone.

No you do not get it

There was no need for a militarized raid. He easily could have been arrested with no violence. The whole affair straddled two presidential administrations. It started under Bush sr and ended under Clinton.

Since you clearly failed high school try a GED you have serious reading comprehension problems

No one was against ARRESTING Koresh. We are against the irresponsible way the FBI and ATF went about it. He jogged on public roads unescorted and presumably unarmed every day and could have been quietly arrested by a local LEO. Instead, the BATF sent what amounted to a SWAT team to breech the compound and created the whole mess.

He had a lame rock band , they frequently played gigs at bars in the area. So easy to pick him up at one of those places. he even went out for a beer at local bars by himself , how hard would it be to snatch him up while leaving one of those places? He had a part time job working as a mechanic at a local auto shop.

The possibilities are endless and he was under constant surveillance for a long time. They knew his comings and goings and ignored it.

The entire raid by the ATF was a massive failure because of incompetance and lack of professionalism. They planned thing around the media rather than around effective tactics and safety. They had NO opsec and were carelessly allowing the public to see preperations for the raid weeks in advance ( loose lips sink ships ). They had massive dedicated communications with the media. On the other hand they did not have the slightest contigency or thought of medical support. When people started to get hurt they had to search in vain for phone books to call an ambulance company. In the end they had to ask the cameramen and reporters on the scene to call for medical support on their cell phones.

Koresh was no good guy but he is beyond justice. The ATF and FBI are still here however and have never been held accountable.

Funny how some on the left scream for justice for Renee Good and Pretiss ( I agree with those cries ) but never for this disaster created by the government.

You need to grow up. Your point is well made. It was botched and poor planning on both sides.
