Wendy Suares, an anchor at KOKH FOX 25, reported on Twitter that a teacher at Norman High School in Norman, Oklahoma, was fired for speaking to students about the Brooklyn Public Library’s initiative to make books—especially frequently-challenged books—accessible to students around the country. She also shared the above QR code from the library, which leads to more information about the project, Books Unbanned.

Why do you act like book bans are a new thing? Several books that either faced bans and / or challenges include: To Kill a Mockingbird, The Catcher in the Rye, Of Mice and Men, The Great Gatsby, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn .. The Lord of the Rings tribology, 1984 ... and many many more .. and it isn't limited to the GOP. I suggest you do some research before making baseless accusations.

I think that was the point, but I'm not sure "libs" were behind the maj of those book bans, but I'm not so sure about bans of LoR or 1984, and I read the first 3 in HS .. the first time. Mockingbird was banned are recently as 2017 here as is made some "uncomforrtable" with race and sex.

There is a mini uproar ovver Mice and men over here. Kids saying the language makes them feel uncomfortable. I havent read it so I cant comment.
My daughter read it when she did her exxams at 16. It didnt really affect her but then she is an intelligent person with educated parents..

With Huck Finn the language can be bad but Twains heart is in the right place.It would be impossible to teach American lit without reading the book.

If you look at Birth of a Nation the creators heart is not in the right place.Its just a racist polemic.

Name the books that are banned. Last I heard, Florida is banning certain books that are either based on lies, half-truths, or adult sexuality from public schools. They aren't being banned in the broader sense. Try to be honest. Presenting false information makes you look bad.
