Do you know what a single Warthog can do?

They started by building a high speed cannon with rotating barrels that shoots depleted uranium shells the size of coke bottles (they can easily penetrate most any tank armor).

Then they built a plane around that cannon :laughing0301:

It is the most destructive piece of flying awesomeness I've ever seen!!!

The pilots say you can only fire it for 2 seconds or the force of firing the cannon will stop the planes forward momentum.

And they are coming right atchya Hamas!

I would like to see one of those planes in action,

They are also very redundant and durable. A-10's have flown home & landed safely with multiple holes the size of dinner plates in the wings.

The pilot sits in a titanium "bathtub" so no ground fire can injure the pilot.

I would like to see one of those planes in action, against someone else of course. But I would like to see one. Actually seeing one fly would be good enough for me.
I watched them work doing low level strafing runs all morning on a range directly behind the 7.62 M60 machine gun range I was OIC of. It was pretty awesome.

I get a fair amount of military air traffic as I am in between two beacons. Most is too high to identify though. I have seen fighters, and been able to make out numbers through binoculars sometimes, usually they are moving so fast I can't do that. There isn't many of those on a regular basis though. There is a squadron of six Blackhawk helicopters that fly low enough to wave at the guys regularly though. I imagine they are on drills of some sort. I also see groups of four Osprey aircraft about twice a week. There are also four of those double prop helicopters that fly over about once a month. Fascinating stuff....

Ugly plane but they are effective.

I don't know if the A-10s are still usable....I think their maintenance has gone undone.

Besides drones can do the same job without risking pilots lives. Just saying....

But I do like those slow moving beasts of destruction. They were awesome in their day.

However,
The Gerald Ford is only one of THREE carrier strike groups. The UK's flagship HMS Queen Elizabeth and a Carrier strike group from Greece are all three in the Med right now.
That's enough firepower to destroy every Middle Eastern nation with power to spare.

And Hamas is not the only group to attack Israel. Hezbollah is joining in the fight.
(albeit reluctantly)
Apparently they weren't really ready for a full scale attack for whatever reason and are finding themselves being drug into it despite their misgivings for doing so. (Strongarmed and shamed into participating)

Syria, Lebanon, Palestinians (of course) possibly Egypt and dunno who else. (Jordan never really joins in these things...they might grumble but that's the extent of their involvement)

Saudis are claiming Palestinian support but will do nothing. Iran knows its in trouble for doing all this to help stall the Saudi/Israeli peace accords. It didn't think things would blow up like this. (Dumb dumb dumb)

This is either going to be WW3 or over in a couple of days with Israel getting a new settlement out of this.

Recently I'm seeing jets very high and very fast flying overhead. (No sound they are so high) So small and blending in its hard to see them at all....just a little grey/silver spec in a huge sky moving very fast.

Yeah, likewise here. I can't see much of those even with binoculars.
But For the past 3 -4 weeks or so I have noticed.
I was burning a slash pile the day when Obama made a visit to Phoenix back when he was president and he had been in Denver first, so passed this way. I got to see two groups of fighters, fairly high, with a big plane in the middle of each group. That was one of the coolest sightings of aircraft I have had, to see air force one and it's decoy, along with their escorts.

Yeah....seen AF1 at a reserve base in Nashville once....what got me was the size of the President's plane vx the military press plane that went with. The press plane was huge by comparison.

The A-10 is not a carrier aircraft.....I'm thinking something got mixed-up in translation because i heard the same thing and went WTF.

Along with the Ford the U.S. is sending the cruiser USS Normandy, destroyers USS Thomas Hudner, USS Ramage, USS Carney, and USS Roosevelt and the U.S. is augmenting Air Force F-35, F-15, F-16, and A-10 fighter aircraft squadrons in the region.

I guess they could transport them on the deck but their wingspan is 57' with no provision for folding.....They need 4K' for take-of

Anyway a fleet carrier would not tie-up deck space in a potential combat zone like that.

Pretty neat:

Maybe the rebuilt a fleet of warthogs just for this carrier :dunno:

It IS a new carrier. They tend to upgrade things.

Yeah...I thunk they're gonna nail Iran...which will bring russia & china into this game :(

Get your preps ready & don't forget to say your prayers tonight!

Dontchyou worry about my warthog...or what she oughtta be...she's close enough to perfect...for me
Massive fire power is truly something to see. I'll never forget seeing a cobra release its mini guns on a hillside bamboo forest in Vietnam. It mowed it down like a green on a golf course. If there was anything living in there beforehand--it wasn't when they flew away.
