The federal government has the power to enforce federal law at any time, anywhere in the US.
State governments, or agents of same, which interfere with the enforcement of federal law are guilty of obstruction, a federal felony.

The Federal Government doesn’t work that way. Once they obtain power, and have it accepted by the Judiciary, they’re never giving it back.
