how are the straits "IRANIAN WATERS"??? do they go THRU Iran?----they are not considered international waters?

Shipping lanes are strictly defined and any variation or mistake affords either nation to take the same action any other nation is allowed to take when it's territorial waters are violated.

I don't know, but chances are a claim will be or is being made that the ships drifted or "strayed" outside of the narrow lanes. There may be caveats to the transit agreements that allow for inspections under certain conditions.
