US obesity problem is not budging, new data shows

Notice folks how people think we eat worse today than we did in the 40s or 50s or 60s?

Junk food was not invented in the 80s people.

We were eating far worse back then.

Why are leftists denying this? Go ahead, take a guess why they deny this.

The junk food was better back then.
Maybe so. Certainly was not some moron telling us about gluten free shit. The average commie propaganda pusher has no idea what a gluten is anyway. Trust that.

There were hardly healthy choices.

Humans were eating far worse back then. Far worse.

People also ate a lot less of it because there was a lot less of it in general. He has no idea what he's talking about. Every study I've looked at says 1950s diet was healthier than today.
Bullshit. There was plenty to go around. You are a hack. People had no clue about carbs.

The people (especially kids) were more active cause there were no video games or internet or cable tv.

You lose. You are a commie loser. That is all you are.

The fatter the country, the better that place is to live
The fattest place is our ghettos. No thank you.
. Don't know if the stats would back you up on that, because cable, gaming, internet and other trends haven't reached many in those areas yet. Most in the ghettos are always on the move outside being active, so not sure where you got your info from on that. Drugs and other such problems in the ghettos keep the weight off as well. People are probably more prone to die by malnutrition, stray bullet's, drugs or other such things in the ghettos than obesity.

I believe diet has the biggest effect.

If you eat processed foods all day every day you are likely to have weight problem, but also looming health problems. Americans are not only fat, they are terribly unhealthy...due to poor food choices and a failing healthcare system, in which doctors know nothing about nutrition but a lot about expensive synthetic harmful pharmaceutical drugs.

Many Americans think pizza is a health food. So, ignorance is another big problem.
Been eating pizza and junk food for a long time. We were eating far worse in the 50s and 60s.

However, there were no personal computers or video games or cable TV for kids to waste away in front of. They were far more active.

That is the problem. If that is not the problem, then please explain how the same junk foods were around during that time and yet the obesity problems only happened after we became less active.

You deny the average persons diet was worse during that time? You have any idea how people cooked back then? I remember vats of Crisco at my friends house. I remember the commercials.

I agree with what you're saying, but back in the 60's, nobody lived off of fast food. Fast food was a rare treat that perhaps you got once or twice a year. On the other side of that coin, we did eat a lot of junk food. Mom would make that pitcher of Kool-Aid and she used one big scoop of sugar. There was no such thing as diet pop. There was pop and that was it.

We used to make popcorn by loading up a pot with vegetable oil and throwing the popcorn in there. Afterwards we loaded it with butter and salt. In fact I had a taste for tuna a few months ago. I couldn't find one can of tuna in vegetable oil. It's all spring water now.

simply not true!!!

Allot of this problem with fat slob children can be laid right at the feet of limp wrists lazy moms and dads. If one has a sloppy fat child I their house, it is the owner of that child's fault. Not McDonalds, Twinkies or whatever. It's also not the democrats fault, unless that is said democrats are in charge of your kids. The female obamas little lunch scheme had no effect on any of my kids as I made it a point to be in charge of feeding them. Thus, I don't have fat disgusting children.
. The liberals played a role... Slapping criminals on the wrist, and forcing the safety of the communities to fail, then forced the children and parents to take caution. In this caution came lifestyle changes, and when the children were afraid to go out, then the corporations saw the shift and began filling the voids. Simple.

Oh, people were living off of junk food. Like you said, we did not even know about carbs. No diet choices. Knew nothing about sugars, other than it was bad for your teeth.

Eating far worse, and we were more active.

So, tell me. What is the real problem?

Confounding is getting crushed.

I'm still waiting for you to show me a reliable study that says the average diet was less healthy in the 1950s. I don't know why you're arguing that junk food existed when I never said it didn't. I'm asking for stats, pigeon man, but I'm fully expecting more non-sequitur pigeon poop.

Correct, that's why in baseball today, you are lost in the dugout if you don't speak Spanish. Many of those players from other countries didn't have those video games and cell phones growing up. They grew up the way we did. When you wanted to play, you went outside and threw a baseball, football or basketball around.

It makes me wonder how many American kids never discovered their talent when it comes to sports because they were playing video basketball instead of real basketball.

Care, we had no knowledge of anything healthy. No healthy choices. Hardly. Most people ate junk food and Crisco was in every household. Along with different vegetable oils.

I don't care how much more healthy we are today and we are just on education itself, we are far less active as a society. Don't think for one second that the obesity problem is limited to the US. It is a world problem and I provided the study. Of course our favorite capitalist hating commies will deny this. This is about how bad capitalism is. That is the narrative.

We as people ate far worse when we had no clue what was bad or good. No such thing as sugar free anything. Junk food all over. Yet, we were more active and less fat.

These are the facts. It is the sedentary behavior that is killing us.

The real problem is why I posted the OP, and that is government getting into every aspect of our lives. Back in the 60's, if somebody told you that in the future, the federal government would be telling you how to eat, you would have told them they were FOS.

But in general, I would say it's probably a 70/30 problem, the 70 being exercise.

You are a loser. I don't need to show you a study about how junk food was available back then, or how there was no such thing as sugar free drinks like today. I don't need to show a study how video games or cable tv or the internet was not around back then and kids as a result were far more active.

You are pathetic commie propaganda puppet. That is all you are.

NEW YORK (AP) - America's weight problem isn't getting any better, according to new government research.

Overall, obesity figures stayed about the same: About 40 percent of adults are obese and 18.5 percent of children. Those numbers are a slight increase from the last report but the difference is so small that it could have occurred by chance.

Worrisome to experts is the rate for children and teenagers, which had hovered around 17 percent for a decade. The 2-to-5 age group had the biggest rise.

The bad news is that the numbers didn't go down, experts say. In recent years, state and national health officials have focused on obesity in kids, who were the target of the national Let's Move campaign launched by former first lady Michelle Obama in 2010.

US obesity problem is not budging, new data shows

The last sentence is very telling: kids are still fat in spite of Moochelle trying to force them to eat foods they didn't want or like.

I'm sure leftists are totally shocked at this; Democrats can't control people like most people do their pets. Besides that idiotic campaign, her husband also forced restaurants to post calorie count on all menus from coast to coast. He assumed that unless Big Brother told us a Big Mac combo was not the best choice for dinner, we wouldn't be able to figure it out ourselves.

The federal government is not our parents and we are not the federal governments children. I wonder how many millions of private and taxpayer dollars were wasted on these programs that turned up absolutely nothing?

Message to control freak leftists: Leave us alone! Let us live our own lives and make our own decisions! Really.........you don't own us.....

I don't care about fat people in Red States. They're the ones who need healthcare the most. That's why they get all those healthcare subsidies.
Republicans made a Moby their cult leader. After everything Trump is doing to his base, how can they still complain about Obama? Obama is not even president. Lard is.

. Yep, it's called seeing it first hand. I work where I have to go into these areas, and haven't seen the obesity being talked about here yet in those areas.

I didn't ask for any of that. I asked for a reliable study that shows that their overall diet was less healthy on average.

You are pathetic commie propaganda puppet. That is all you are.

Spoiler alert: You can't find a reliable study that says people had a less healthy diet in the 1950s, but you'll find plenty that say the opposite. You're wrong, pigeon man.

Care, we had no knowledge of anything healthy. No healthy choices. Hardly.

This comment made me laugh. When we went out to a family gathering, the adults wanted to be left alone, so me and my cousins played outside if it was nice. To stop us from bothering our parents, they kept giving us a bottle of pop.

They didn't know the problem of too much sugar and caffeine. So when we got home at the end of the night, we were running around the kitchen table like we were high or something. My mother would yell at us "If you kids are going to get like this every time we go out, we're not taking you anymore!!!!":badgrin::badgrin: Yeah, like it was our fault we were so wound up. LOL!
