US drone strikes in Yemen and Pakistan have killed around 1,147 unknown people in failed attempts to kill 41 named targets according to a report by human rights charity Reprieve.

"
Key findings of the report include:
  • In Pakistan, 24 men were reported as killed or targeted multiple times. Missed strikes on these men killed 874 people, including 142 children.
  • In Yemen, 17 men were reported killed or targeted multiple times. Missile strikes on these men killed 273 others and accounted for almost half of all confirmed civilian casualties and 100% of all recorded child deaths.
  • In targeting Ayman al Zawahiri, the CIA killed 76 children and 29 adults. They failed twice, and Ayman al Zawahiri is reportedly still alive."

War on Terror?

Funny how the good guys' 'war on terror' so closely resembles terrorist tactics. Are we sure they're the bad guys?

And thus the War on Terror perpetuates itself. Kill innocent civilians causing more people to turn to terrorism out of vengeance. Brilliant.

Maybe the real bad guys and gals are those who acquire large fortunes from the terror of war? It's an interesting thought experiment to ponder the relationship between the first private fortunes acquired thousands of years ago and human slavery.

It does seem like the same policies have functioned well for thousands of years for a lucky few. I can understand how eternal war and debt could be marketed to a population of illiterates desperate for any source of employment; however, I'm not sure how that applies in the US today. (or maybe I am)?

Good job security plan. Like line form "The Hurt Locker" after the cabbie arrives on scene and bomb tech shoots a warning shot into his windshield, "If he wasn't an insurrgent before, he is now."

Imagine the cabbie's reaction if the warning shot had killed one of his children?
"It took the US six attempts to kill Qari Hussain, a Pakistani target. During these attempts, 128 people were killed, including 13 children."

Wow. That's really a lot less than bombs and missiles.
"A new report finds U.S. drone strikes kill 28 unidentified people for every intended target. While the Obama administration has claimed its drone strikes are precise, the group Reprieve found that strikes targeting 41 people in Yemen and Pakistan have killed more than 1,000 other, unnamed people. In its attempts to kill al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri alone, the CIA killed 76 children and 29 adults; Al-Zawahiri remains alive."

"A new book on the 2012 presidential campaign claims that President Barack Obama told aides that he is 'really good at killing people.'

"According to Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, the authors of Double Down: Game Change 2012, Obama made the comment while discussing drone strikes last year. CNN's Peter Hamby noted the anecdote in his review of the book for the Washington Post.

And this is different from the rest of war, how?

Maybe you should open a thread announcing your new discovery: "War is hell! Baaaaad things happen in war!!!"

Apparently you think you're the first to discover this. So go ahead, tell people your new discovery.

This particular batch of bad guys doesn't have a ball bearing factory in a major urban center against which we could send a few hundred Flying Fortresses to bomb and start a firestorm that melts stone.

Were our pilots in WWII who blew up babies and pregnant women while trying to take down the Reich devils? Evil? What?

This is a war, and war is hell.

Let the unknowns beware. Kill the jihadists or die with them. Allahu akbar.

Have you seriously considered the possibility that the biggest batch of bad guys on the planet work in Washington DC?
