The National Security Forces are one of six Palestinian security agencies policing the West Bank under the command of President Mahmoud Abbas.

It operates checkpoints, performs crowd control and is on the front lines with Israel, coordinating its movements in an uneasy working relationship with the Israeli army. Issues like police work, civil defense and intelligence gathering are left to other agencies.

The performance of the force is being closely watched and could have important implications for peacemaking. Its members, unlike their counterparts in other agencies, receive training from police in neighboring Jordan under a U.S.-funded program supervised by the American Lt. Gen. Keith Dayton.

Ya better to have armed Hamas Terrorists as the police right you dumb ass?

Do you believe all that terrorist propaganda BS?

Ya I am sure Hamas has no control over who they hire for their cops and boarder guards. Some peaceful group does that for them, right?

Explain why it was ok for Hamas to openly MURDER Fatah members when they forceably took over? Why it is STILL ok for Hamas to murder Fatah members in the areas they control? And you say NOTHING? They murdered elected officials, armed security troops and civilians. And they continue to murder them if they make the mistake of being known to be Fatah. And you say nothing.

GAZA CITY (AFP) – Taher al-Mazlum is desperate to join the Hamas-run police in the Gaza Strip, not because he agrees with the Islamist group's hardline ideology, but because he needs money to get married.

The 20-year-old was one of more than 14,000 Palestinians who have recently applied for jobs in security forces run by Hamas, which after two years of crippling Israeli sanctions has become one of Gaza's largest employers.

The latest recruitment drive even drew members of the secular Fatah movement led by Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas, which was routed by Hamas in a week of brutal street clashes when the Islamist group seized power in June 2007.

"(Hamas) knows that my whole family is Fatah... but they didn't ask about it," said Abdullah, another 20-year-old applicant, who asked that his full name not be printed for fear it could endanger his chances of being selected.

Last week, when it announced it would hire another 1,500 for the security forces, more than 14,000 people applied, according to Ihab al-Ghussein, an interior ministry spokesman.

"We will not look into the political affiliation of individuals but will focus on aspects like physical fitness," he said.

Wow they really are goons hired by a Hamas dictator, never knew you had the truth in you.
Except the last I checked the US does not fund Hamas. Has that changed?
