Updating the U.S. Constitution to more appropriately address modern times

The First Amendment is already in rapid decay. Once that goes, the rest won't matter.
As long as we have a First Amendment, there is no need for a Second

Too bad our President is attacking our First Amendment

There's a few other things going on, too. Since long before Trump showed up. Maybe you don't see them.

Trump is at war with the institution of a free press

Haven't seen it since Nixon

The second and third amendments should be dropped they are no longer relevant

Since we don't have militias anymore, there is no need for a second amendment. Leave gun laws to the states

Nobody has housed military in private homes in 200 years

Both are obsolete and archaic
IOW, the OP is another one of your sock accounts.

Nice.
Show me your neighborhood well regulated militia and you can keep your second amendment

Otherwise....let states regulate guns
They do it now
Every State's National Guard is a regulated Militia and as always ignorant people ignore the last and most important part of the 2nd Amendment, The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The intent is clear.

The amount of hypocrisy and irony in your posts is absolutely mind numbing.

You and anyone that talks like you is utterly an epic LIAR.

“Leave gun laws to the states”

Hence the hypocrisy of the right.

When it comes to the privacy rights of women and the equal protection rights of gay Americans, conservatives want the states to decide the extent of those rights, and decry the courts overturning state laws that compel women to give birth against their will or deny same-sex couples access to marriage law.

Yet when the states enact firearm regulatory measures that conservatives oppose, reflecting the ‘will of the people’ of those states, rightists sprint to the Federal courts and file suit to have those laws overturned, in defiance of the ‘will of the people.’

If the courts have the authority to strike down state laws that prohibit the possession of certain types of firearms, then they likewise have the authority to strike down laws that violate the right to privacy or the right to equal protection of the law.

Conservatives can’t have it both ways.
Show me in the Constitution where it specifically mentions marriage and abortion. I can show you where it mentions the right to bear arms in case you missed it.

If that was the intent.....that statement would have stood on its own

It had to be qualified

We need to bring the United States Constitution up to date to make it more relevant to the modern world.

In particular, the Bill of Rights, especially the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Amendments need to be made more compatible with the modern world.

Here is how I would word them:

1st:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of a religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of the press. The right of the people peaceably to assemble and disseminate speech that is not hateful or threatening shall not be infringed. The right of oppressed peoples to petition the Government for a redress of grievances shall not be infringed.

2nd:
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the military and law enforcement to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The right of private citizens to own firearms designated by the government to be appropriate for antique and/or sporting purposes only shall not be infringed.

4th:
The right of the people who have not been proven to belong to a hateful, discriminatory group or a group that is in ideological opposition to the government to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects,[a] against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Sure, everybody'd like to change the Constitution to fit their own political views. But there's no way in hell you'd ever get everybody to agree on anything. If you did have agreement it would mean that one political faction had dictatorial control of the process - everyone else would be pitching fits.

Besides, congress and the states have a mechanism to change it - it's called Constitutional amendments. It's rare that the meet the criteria for creating a new amendment, but it does happen.

Did my time in the regular Army. Punctually speaking a comma means a pause or its used to separate items in a list. Either you choose to ignore the pause/comma in the 2nd Amendment or you failed English in school. If the latter is the case it may not be all your fault, the education system in this country sucks.

An Unnecessary and Anti-Democratic Manifesto Written by Lawyers for the 1%

What's this slavish need for an oligarchic overlord on our laws? If the people don't trust a politician they themselves elected, then we should demand national referendums to put a check on such renegades. If the "representative" elitists fail to gives us a decisive say after Election Day, we have the right to use extra-judicial means to force them to toe the line. Going begging to SCROTUS is political self-hatred. Constitutionalists are bullying mouthpieces for the regime and deserve to be punched in the mouth.
