Unprecedented SSTs strike Florida's coral reefs

It is basically a cold water coral which is not likely to be effected by global warming at least not any time soon.

LOL!!!

A confession the oceans are NOT WARMING....

Global warming is

completely fudged fraud bullshit. Your side has

NO WARMING in the ATMOSPHERE
NO WARMING in the OCEANS
NO BREAKOUT in CANES
NO ONGOING NET ICE MELT
NO OCEAN RISE

Since, I don't debate global warming, nor the existence of gravity, or that the earth is round, there will be no meeting of minds which makes this discussion rather pointless.

Unlike you I see both sides of the issue. Most of the coral on earth is deep sea coral which is found at a depth of 200 to 10,000 feet. It is basically a cold water coral which is not likely to be effected by global warming at least not any time soon.

The devastation of shallow water coral, which really is critical to long term viability of marine life has been going on for over a century due to pollution and destruction of the reefs. Global warming is making the problem far worst. We know without a doubt the temperature ranges the various species of coral can tolerate and we know the temperatures of the waters where the coral is dying. It ain't rocket science.
Except the water temperature is normal

Except the water temperature is normal
The current sea water temperature in Islamorada (Central Keys) in the Florida Keys is 92 degrees, down from 101 last week The maximum safe temperature for shallow water coral is 84 degrees. The average water temperature in August is 84 degrees. The average high is 87.

101 and 92 degrees is definitely not normal.

Reef-building corals cannot tolerate water temperatures below 64° Fahrenheit (18° Celsius). Many grow optimally in water temperatures between 73° and 84° Fahrenheit (23°–29°Celsius), but some can tolerate temperatures as high as 104° Fahrenheit (40° Celsius) for short periods

Right, cause you've been around for millions of years and so you know...first hand. :auiqs.jpg:

I agree. As I previously stated, in this thread the length of time that coral is subject to high temperatures is important. At 100+ temperatures the time period coral reefs can exist without serious damage is short about week to 10 days for most shallow water coral. Coral can exist at temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s for several weeks or a month or more without serious damage. It is time and temperature not just temperature that kills.

If that was true, all coral in the Gulf of Mexico would've been dead long before humans walked the planet...

And when the Sun is at it's Solar Minimum and the average August temp is only 89F they'll be yelling....

It's COOL because of CLIMATE CHANGE! :blahblah:

Good grief, another Faux Solar Cycle parrot...

The Sun did not melt North America and freeze Greenland at the same time. The Solar Cycle is a lie put out by the Co2 Fraud for idiots who watch Faux to parrot.

The 101 reading is fraud from a Co2 FRAUD desperate to show "warming" on a planet that is NOT WARMING.

Whether it was microwaves or warmers dumping boiling water next to the buoy, we paid for it...

and yet we have the OP craziness.

Coral dies if the water stays at 85 degrees for 2 to 3 months. However, if it stays at 90 degrees the coral will start dying after 3 or 4 weeks. At 100 degrees, it will start dying in about of week. This is just an average. Some species will die much sooner and than others.

No it does not! 88 is normal

A water temperature buoy, MNBF1 located in the waters of Manatee Bay at the Everglades National Park NW of Key Largo recorded a high temperature of 101.7 late on Monday afternoon July 24, according to US National Data Buoy Center. Other nearby buoys topped 100F (38C) and the upper 90s (35-37C).
