Universal Healthcare question for everyone

So the issue is complex. We agree. So your “fake news” reaction was you being a typical troll. Thanks for playing

The fake news was the idea you were pressing that it's the doctors making a good living that is the problem. It is not.

No. My OP stated that it costs a lot to become a doctor in the US so they need to be paid well. And yeah that is part of the problem. You agree.

Let’s say he gets paid $4mil per year. Now comes UH. How much does that doctor make now? How does UH reward our best doctors?

That isn't the problem. I even doubt that many even make anywhere close to 4 million.

Quickest number I found was that the average wage in 2022 was $225,000.

Let's look right here for the model: Medicare.

What does it cost compared to what the claims were in '65, and what is its level of service?

After that, lets look at an operation that is 100% State run: the VA....Costs and service?

That tells us all we need to know.
Yep. Arizona VA scandal anyone? If they treat veterans like this how will they treat the average Joe?

I personally know veterans who say that for the simply stuff they go to the VA, but the more complicated stuff they pay out of pocket.

This is what "free" gets you, watered down and subpar.

Naturally, I see no one going to places like Cuba or Venezuela or North Korea for "free" health care

And you never will.

But you do see a lot of people all over the world come to the US for health care.

People like Mick Jagger could go anywhere in the world for health care but choose to come to the US instead

Just know that I find it very odd that the government care little about spending taxpayer dollars UNTIL it comes to YOUR health care to keep YOU alive

Then all of a sudden we have to cut costs.

Notice, they knew a long time ago how they would gut YOUR health care

Meanwhile, those in Congress opted out of Obamacare and will continue to have the best in the world, which is why they all live to 120 years old and refuse to retire from Congress.

Hence my Dr. James Andrews example.

They make way more. You’re including residents whose $ is capped

Plumbing isn’t a right? Do we have many houses and or apartments without plumbing?
Plumbing is a right, I guess. But it's not a "right". The new version of rights is stuff that other people have to give you.

Good point..

But I think our Healthcare expenses are high not because doctors make so much money but insurance acting as a middle man and legal costs
Monthly premiums can be so high and then something happens. Then the bloodsucking insurer declines to pay.

Yep. It’s called “fair share taxes”

How much of my hard earned money does a loser who relies on govt assistance like JoeB or IM2 get to steal?

Fair share indeed

The problem is not that doctors get paid well. That's how you formed your OP and why I simply dismissed it.

Doctors should get paid well. Insurance CEO's should not exist.

Nurses should get paid well. "Shareholder value" where health care is concerned should not exist.

So I ask again. How much should MDs get paid under UH? Since they can’t bill what they want a way a plumber or an architect could.

Why healthcare is so high.
Insurers and doctors do a dance where a doctor quotes a high number to see if he gets lucky, insurance declines, doctor comes back with a lower fee…back and forth

Universal healthcare eliminates that

Does it? How so?

I'm not against a doctor setting his fee's. He isn't the problem.

I ve never had it happen. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Max out at $5k per annum out of pocket and rest is fully covered
I've never had it happen either. Choosing a non-profit seems to be the way to go.
