First of all, the Supreme Court was absolutely correct in sending the abortion question back to the individual states. This is NOT a Federal issue under the US Constitution.

Many/Most of us in the Right ARE in favor of exceptions for certain circumstances. Most often: Rape, Incest, and the Life of the mother.

That happens to be my stance; with these caveats….

Rape: Myst be willing to name the rapist and/or assist in the investigation and prosecution of the rapist.

Incest: Unless both parties were consenting adults.

Life of the Mother: The actual LIFE of the mother must be in immediate peril. We’re not talking about the mother’s quality of life after the delivery. We’re talking imminent death.

I never claimed to be a doctor. In reference to the “Life of the Mother” option; it would have to be determined by appropriate medical personnel, as laid out in the laws of the individual state. My point was simply that the potential for post-partum depression, stretch marks, etc… do not qualify as threats to the life of the mother.

They do it because in certain states parents or even elder family members may have “rights” to “teach/train” or “punish” female family members. At least that’s how it’s been explained to me.

When I was in 8th grade a very very cute cheerleader in my econ class got pregnant. She was like 13 when she got pregnant, 14 and had the baby normally. She was out a month or so from school to have her baby in 9th grade.
