Zelensky announced to plan on taking the Crimea shortly after he was told by the West, that will have to accept negotiations. The West doesn´t believe that Ukraine is able to take lost soil back.. So, in my opinion, Zelensky is promoting overstretched goals to get more weapons. Only weeks ago, Zelensky said the Russians prepare an offensive with 500.000 troops, referring to intel. Apparently, that was not true. If that was true, Ukraine would not prepare an offensive.
My guess that Ukraine only prepares such an offensive under US pressure. They even pulled the skilled troops out of Bakhmut, although even Zelensky underlined the strategic importance of the city.

History, you mean Hitler. Hitler had to make a decision after things went very well for him, too well. The war was very successful but it resulted in a situation where the mechanized forces were well before the infantry. However, Hitler had to make a decision: Push for Moscow or not. A straight attack on Moscow would have negative side effects: The 5. Russian Army (at the time in Ukraine) would be a thread to the flanks along with other forces. Also, Moscow has not been priority at all. Hitler made clear, what he wants the army to do:
- Destroy or take over natural resources (most important)
- Destroy or take over means of production (second to resources)

So Hitler chose other options. Instead of Moscow, he ordered the following:

1. In the north:
Encircle Leningrad and establish connection with Finnish forces. Leningrad was one of the major industrial hubs, also, it was Russia´s connection to the Baltic Sea.

2. In the south:
- Take over south Ukraine, another Russian industrial center (origin of the Azov industrial complex) and secure the local resources.
- Take over the Crimea. The Crimea was a big Russian air base. It threatened the only German source of oil which was located in Romania.
- Destroy the Russian 5. Army, before it can retreat over the Dnjepr.
- Advance to the Caucasus to take the oil or at least cut the Russian supply, give Iran hope that German support will come soon to make them an ally.

So, the Crimea has been taken by German forces. But they had more than Ukraine has today.

Prigozhin said Ukraine has trained 200,000 reservists, 80,000 of them are deployed in the Bakhmut region. 70 % of the city are controlled by Russia. Prigozhin also said, they have received large amounts of Nato weapons.
