UK farmers march over having to pay tax like everyone else.

Yes, there are problems with farming which means that poorer farmers are going to go under and the rich will take over their farms. Labour need to deal with all of that.
Poorer farmers will not be affected by this. They can pass on farms worth 3m without paying a penny. That isnt poor where I come from.

The problem with owning a farm is, your money is stuck in the farm. You either give up your job and livelihood in order to get at the money, or you're stuck with a farm where your profit margins are being massively cut by supermarkets controlling everything.

They have 10 years to pay at 0%. Its hard to see how it could be fairer.
The problem is the price they are paid by the supermarket. Chuck in brexit and shit trade deals. But no govt will ever do amything to put up the price of food.
If your parents own a farm of say £5mn and you inherit it one day, you have to pay 20% on the value of over £3mb, so 20% of £2mn is a £400,000 tax bill because your parents died. The farm will probably make £50k a year. So for the next 8 years, you pay everything you make and somehow need to live off £0.00.

Just like Labour, you're clueless. Absolutely full on clueless.

My heart bleeds for these millionaires.

You and this blonde are on the same thick **** level -

He is wrong......the people making those decisions on taxes know exactly what they are doing, they know what the numbers are.........they want to take that land.....and taxes are the way they can drive off those farmers...

Thousands of people have protested in London over changes to inheritance tax for farmers announced in the Budget.

Among those marching in Whitehall was TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson, who said "it's the end" for farmers, as he called for the government to change its mind.
The prime minister said he understood farmers' concerns and "wants to support" them but added "the vast majority" would be unaffected.

From April 2026, inherited agricultural assets worth more than £1m, which were previously exempt, will be liable to the tax at 20% - half the usual inheritance tax rate.

This has been the big story over here, I think its a confected outrage and the taxes should go futher.
Inheritance tax is only paid by 4% of folk . Most people can avoid it.
Basiically its a tax on income. The recipient pays it not the person woeking now.

These greedy bastards are getting 10 years to pay it at a reduced rate. Its interest free. They should just shut up and get on with it.

My sympathies are not with uppeer class toffs worried about a multi million pound inheritance.
All inheritance taxes should be abolished

You call the farmers greedy when you are the one coveting what is not yours
