Wonder how soon LeBron will try and smooth it over?

NBA’s Enes Kanter Calls for a Free Tibet, Sparks Chinese Backlash

The sports league is in hot water in China again after the Boston Celtics center called China’s leader a brutal dictator

HONG KONG—The National Basketball Association is facing a new eruption of anger in China over a tweet.

Two years after the NBA saw one of its teams wiped off China’s official broadcast channels after its general manager voiced support for Hong Kong protesters, the U.S. basketball league is now facing nationalist umbrage in China over a player’s comments on Tibet. It is likely to serve as a preview of the sporting world’s impending collision with China over human rights in the run-up to Beijing’s Winter Olympics in February.

The 80's are calling, they want their faux outrage back. Tibet hasn't been a legitimate issue in decades. If there is an issue of note regarding China, it would be the Uighars.

Good for him.....

Just as players should be able to speak out against police brutality and oppression in this country...

I don't see why they can't speak out against it elsewhere

I'm just glad the previous admin finally did the right thing in support of the muslims in China....even if they waited until the last minute to do it..

Liberals haven't loved Bolton this much since they were for the war before they were against it.

This is piteously weak but it's better than the Uighur thing or the H.K. thing, now that those have lost traction.

Something better that can stand up against the slaughter in Iraq by America is desperately needed!

That's none of business either. This sort of thing has the same legitimacy as if Chinese athletes called for a safety Chicago.

It may be none of his business, but with the NBA's nose firmly planted in China's ass, it's nice to see that at least some of the players are going to go against their leagues policies of being so pro-China.

Athletes need to just shut up and play and stop pretending like they give a shit about anything other than themselves and pretending like most of them have more than 2 brain cells to rub together.
