WASHINGTON – “This is such an unbelievable betrayal of all those troops who were attacked, maimed and killed by these same Iran-backed Shi’ite terror militias in the 2000s.”
That was the reaction of Iran expert Clare Lopez to the news that U.S. forces in Iraq are now supporting Iranian militias.

Bombshell report U.S. fighting for Iranian militia in Iraq

Why don't we arm Kurds? Why do we continue to give weapons to Iran? Explain me, please. Iran is an enemy who has been responsible for thousands of injuries, if not thousands of deaths. Such a moronic behavior in the Middle East. In one area, we fight the Iranians, in another we partner with them. Whose side are we on? Whoever wins the next Presidency, from either party, is going to have a hell of a time trying to re-establish our standing in the world.

What Iranian militia attacks is she talking about in the 2000s?

WTF. Our troops shouldn't be fighting there at all.

The problem is a Muslim problem. Let them fight and die to straighten it out or not. I could care less if they all kill each other.

Isn't a betrayl. Our enemy today is always our friend tomorrow. Sorta the whole point of how utterly retarded wars are. Why the hell would anyone volunteer for a military and die or be maimed fighting 'the greatest scourage to our way of life ever!' when they're our allies later?

Germany, Japan, Italy, all our best friends now. So isn't that a betrayl to veterans of World War 2? If not, then either is anything going on right now in the meddle east.

The only betrayl is the US government convincing the stupider citizens that there's a good reason they need to die and get maimed.

Sounds like Obam is actually supporting groups that he admits are a threat to the US...

Obama Administration Acknowledges Iran s Terror Ties Amid Nuclear Talks - US News

Despite cooperation in nuclear negotiations that suggests Iran wants to become a responsible international actor, the country continues backing terrorist activity across the Middle East.

The State Department Friday released its annual Country Reports on Terrorism, which called Iran a "serious threat" facing the U.S. and its allies, even though the U.S. is negotiating with the country to ensure its nuclear program is exclusively peaceful.

The Obama administration has emphasized the fact that the nuclear negotiations are separate from other geopolitical matters dealing with Iran, a line repeated Friday by Tina Kaidanow, ambassador-at-large and coordinator for counterterrorism.

"I think we've been very clear that [the negotiations] we consider important. It has a context – a specific context. We think it's essential that we pursue those negotiations," Kaidanow said in a briefing for reporters. "But that said, none of that implies that we would be, again, in any way taking our eye off the ball with respect to what Iran is doing as a supporter of terrorism. We have sanctions in place against Iran specifically related to the terrorism issue. That's not going to change."

Overall, the 2014 report found that terrorist attacks worldwide increased 35 percent and fatalities increased 81 percent over the previous year. Seventy-eight percent of fatalities took place in five countries: Iraq, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Syria. Attacks have also gotten more lethal, with 20 attacks in 2014 killing more than 100 people, while only two such attacks took place in 2013. The report, which is mandated by Congress, is heavy with details of last year's rise of the Islamic State group and its "unprecedented" seizure of territory.

But it is also riddled with references to Iran's continued support for terrorist activity across the Middle East, mostly through its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force. Iran sponsors terrorist groups Hezbollah in Lebanon, several Iraqi Shia militant groups, Hamas and the Palestine Islamic Jihad.
