Two Words: Nuclear Option

Don't ever make threats that you know you wont deliver on. You just look like a silly & dishonest coward in the end. The Democrats will not deliver on their "Nuclear Option" threat and even most Kool-Aiders know this. They will instead likely take Scott Brown's advice and slink back to the drawing board with their debacle. I may be wrong but i doubt it. I guess we'll see though.

Pelosi & Reid blew it. It really is that simple in the end. Kool-Aiders have to now accept this and move on. Time for both of them to go. Lets hope this happens soon.

If by "blew it" you mean they took the time to debate instead of just ramming it through as all of you are suggesting that they did, then you are correct.
If they had rammed it through and been as forceful as the right would have one believe then they would have surely gotten in done within the last 6 months which is the total time they had a super majority.

However, the fact remains that they did NOT force it down anyones throat (repubilican party talking point parroted ad nauseum by the gullible and easilly manipulated) because if they had it would have been done already.

Has anyone ever answered why when the Republicans hinted they may use the Nuclear option the left went BAT SHIT CRAZY and likened it to a criminal decision? Yet now some are talking of doing just that?

I asked a similar question concerning how republicans used to supoport the idea of the nuclear option but are now against it because it doesn't benefit them and I still haven't gotten any answers. LOL

I have already stated that my opinion on the nuclear option is still the same now as it was back then. How many of you righties can HONESTLY say the same??

perhaps you could provide a link citing the republicans use of the *nuclear option*?

surely there are dozens of examples, no?

Senate Republicans don't even represent 40% of the nations population.

Due to the fact that most of them are from small population states, in total, Senate Republicans represent about 25% of the population.

The fact that representatives of 25% of the population can stop legislation from passing is disgusting.

It's time for the "Nuclear Option".

It's completely constitutional, and has been a long time in coming.

Hell, it should have happened in 1957, the first time it was proposed.

to funny.....isn't our system designed to protect the minority from the wrath of the majority....

Sounds like a nazi politics to me... 51% vote to kill other 49%. Democracy, eh?

They couldn't even get their own party on board with this boondoggle, hell, if they could have just rammed it down our thoats they would have. They had to bribe to get it to where it was last week. LOL

I say just open up medicare and make it the public option. That will take a lot of the misinformed supporters away from the right. You know, the ones who scream against socialized medicine even as they scream about keeping hands off of medicare when they fail to realize that they are one and the same.
I think that's just pandering for votes. Seniors always turn out for elections, so if you can get them in your corner, then the better your chances for re-election. I would agree that it's pathetic and both parties do it to no end. Ugh.

Pandering for votes is what republicans are doing when they try to tell seniors that they are going to protect medicare even as they scream about how they are against government run socialized medicine when they are one and the same. I am talking about putting it in terms that everyone can understand and being honest with the voters which something the republcians haven't done. So they can make a truly informed decision.
If it causes them to leave the dishonesty of the republican party that is a plus but I don't see how you can equate telling them the truth about this instance to pandering. Care to explain?

see if you can get the damn fool to tell you how he figures it was the "Republicans" who were obstructionists with a 60-40 split.. ya want some popcorn?

How about the fact that the the right voted as a block against anything and everything with next to no dissenting voices? All it would have taken to prevent that was one individiual mind out of all of the lemmings on the right but none existed.

Furthermore, how long was the 60-40 split held by democrats??

It doesn't matter. The democrats didn't need one republican to get anything they wanted passed.

They could do this for longer than a year.

There is no excuse for them.

Actually YES they did NEED a republican vote. ONE republican vote could have brought about cloture and a vote could have been had. Unfortunately the right, as usual, tends to forget that dems alone don't have 60 votes and that they have to pander to 2 independents to get their votes. One of which has sided with the republicans since they were in power to present date on many issues. Since when is 58 equal to 60?

Furthermore, what do you mean by "they could do this for longer than a year."?

Super Majority = No Obstruction. The Democrats have been a monumental failure despite having a Super Majority. That ain't no easy feat. Continuing to blame Republicans just sounds ludicrous at this point. The Republicans have been locked out all meetings on all legislation for months so they just haven't been in a position to obstruct anything. They just don't have the numbers to obstruct anything. "Obstruction" allegations are just lame DNC talking points. Anyone with common sense knows that stuff is just plain Bull Chit. Just take Scott Brown's advice and go back to the drawing board on this debacle.

They never had a SuperMajority. Lieberman is a Republican.

No. Liberman is an independent becuase he lost the democrat primary. He caucases with the democrats.

and caters to republicans quite a bit so you could hardly claim HONESTLY that he counts as a democrat. LOL Even if you are given the other independent 59 still does not equal the 60 votes that are required to bring about cloture. Nice try though.

Only a silly and dishonest coward makes a threat they know they will never deliver on. The Democrats will never deliver on their "Nuclear Option" threat and they know it. Time to slink back to the drawing board with their health care debacle.

This is a non issue as both independents got on board early in the process in the Senate. They didn't need 1 republican vote. They just couldn't get the democrats on board with the boondoggle.

Calling the voter stupid and gullible. How did that work for Coakley? They even tried to force it down their own party's throats. You might want to take a few days and let this all sink in.

No. Liberman is an independent becuase he lost the democrat primary. He caucases with the democrats.

Everything he does is Republican.

He caucuses with the Democrats so he can spy on them.

The sooner the Democrats come to terms with this and remove him from their caucus, the better off they will be.

ROFLMAO! If that's the case the Republicans need to hire a new "spy". It appears Harry Reid will need a new job next year, maybe he'll work for cheap.
