Two Federal District Court Judges order a hold on SNAP cutoff

Democrats are not refusing this particular money to flow. They were in court asking the judge to let this money flow. Trump’s minions didn’t want it to flow.

Trump minion... gives me an idea...just a sec...

(Feverishly typing...)

Well shit, they do exist! Just goes to show, the internet has EVERYTHING! LOL 😆

Don't need a flood or a hurricane to do that, Trump is doing it all by himself.
Crops aren’t being destroyed in fact we are expecting strong yields this year

Hey idiot. The emergency fund doesn’t have to be voted on by Congress. It’s already set aside for emergencies such as the shutdown. Do research sometimes.
Sure. What the statute did you look at to come to this conclusion?

A federal judge in Rhode Island on Friday afternoon blocked the Trump administration from suspending all food aid for millions of Americans amid the ongoing government shutdown, in a case brought by a group of US cities, nonprofit organizations and a trade union.

And at almost the same time, in a separate but similar case, a federal judge in Massachusetts ruled that the government must continue to fund the program that helps low-income households stave off food insecurity, in a case brought by the Democratic attorneys general from 22 states and the District of Columbia and three governors who sued the administration.

Well, now that two district court judges said it I guess it will be ignored twice as hard.

Slapped down in 3, 2, 1.
These judges have overstepped their authority.

They're stopping the very thing that ensures the programs get funding. The stoppage is Senate democrats and TRUMP! doesn't control them. They're going after the wrong people.

No, it is not true that “nobody at the Department of Agriculture is available to give out food stamps” because of the shutdown.

Even during a shutdown, some staff remain on duty to carry out essential functions like food assistance.

Democrats stopped the funding and won't let it resume. This is on them.

There is no “contingency” fund per se.

But let’s pretend that the provisions of the funding for SNAP — involving approximately 5.25 billion (currently) for shortfalls — were what these judges were claiming to order the President to release were to get released. How long would that last?

About 20 days.

And the set-aside funds are for shortfalls. It provides for the secretary to then direct the states to lower the allotments to recipients. It doesn’t say diddly shit about using the funds to cover congressional inaction such as a government shutdown.

I would suppose that the judges are all about being kind to the poverty stricken — even though the law doesn’t grant any court any authority to demand that the Secretary or the President make use of funds set aside for other purposes.

Once again, federal judges aren’t legislators. And they don’t have any actual authority to do what those two just “ordered.”

It depends on what causes it
I would think the part of children going hungry is the main focus, not what caused it, especially when we have a remedy available to prevent it.

Why is junk food like pastries and soda allowed to be purchased using SNAP?

It should only be for healthy food.

We have morbidly obese people getting free TWINKIES?

That seems ridiculous to me.

Children going hungry is sad. What caused it could be tragic or an emergency…we need to address the cause, and make sure it stops happening

If the cause is abuse? We should spending the emergency funding making sure the abusers can’t do that again

So i guess you have an argument for using the money to ensure Schumer and his people are out of office

Please post who voted for and against the CR and their party affiliation. I have a feeling you won’t.
