Trump Trade War Triggering $1.9 Billion Plunge In Farm Exports: USDA | HuffPost

Go ahead Midwest farmers....vote for this incompetent again in 2020....then sell your farm and claim bankrupcy. He can walk you through the process....as he is the King of Bankruptcy....

If tariffs don’t work why have foreign countries been using them against us for decades?
Personally, I'm against tariffs: a tax by any other name.

That said, were China only engaging in tariffs, it wouldn't be all that bad....It's their currency manipulation and cheating that's going to end up roiling markets.

If massively taxing your own citizens doesn’t work, why have other countries been doing it to their own citizens? Well, it helps explain why the EU has a lower GDP than us despite having almost twice as many people.

U.S. Soy Sets Export Record in Market Year

From my link...

The USDA estimates a net farm income of $66 billion for 2018, compared with $134 billion in 2013.

WAWAAAA.....

Wrong, it included 2018-

ST. LOUIS (February 4, 2019) – Farmer investments in international markets produced strong results in the 2017/2018 marketing year, despite trade dynamics developing as the export period closed.

U.S. Soy Sets Export Record in Market Year
Interesting article. Thanks. Especially this part:

Derek Haigwood, a soybean farmer from Newport, Arkansas and chairman of U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) and director for United Soybean Board (USB), said he expects to see the impact of trade issues in the next, 2018/2019, marketing year. Exports during the 2017/2018 marketing year would not have been largely impacted by the tariffs introduced by China as shipments abroad normally take place after harvest (October-December).

......

What do you think that means?

Yes, massively taxing your own citizens does explain why the EU has a lower GDP.

Tariffs are supposed to be temporary, until domestic industry gets stood up, or to protect industry from unfair trade such as trade with China that uses slave labor and ignore environmental laws.

The second these tariffs end the U.S. industries falsely propped up by them go right back to where they were. They may never end. Like the subsidies propping up the useless ethanol industry.
