Somebody please tell Trump that his additional 25% tax on the American people on aluminum and steel from Canada will be a serious economic blow to America. It will have a massive effect on cars, appliances and GUNS manufactured in the U.S.

I realize Trump is an economic novice, but he needs to hear it from his own people!

Bigly!!!

So, you are against saving good paying jobs in America?

Our local loggers are loving it....They have been surviving on residential tree work due to the Hoser's lumber dumping.

It will take a while for them to ramp back up due to having to lay off so many crews.

That will mean new jobs throughout the industry as new crews are hired, new equipment purchased, and the mills open back up.

Many mills had to close during FJB's rancid economy.

So, the standard wingnut response of "I doesn't directly affect me" so why do I care.

I'm a lumberjack and I don't....

Why should the public see their tax dollars spent on financing other people's jobs? Far better to use that same money to pay for national healthcare.

You dingbat magats whine about stuff like nationalized health but here you are advocating a nationalized employment subsidy!

LOL. Spoken like a true socialist who doesn't care about people's good paying jobs and would rather have people not work and get benefits and UBI instead.

Couple of question for you, 1) Do you support good paying Union jobs? 2) Do you support a minimum wage? 3) Do you support Right to Work laws?

Why must my tax dollars be used to enable other people to get jobs? Their jobs should - in a capitalist system - should exist purely as a consequence of supply and demand and not the manipulation of prices which is what a communist, controlled economy uses.

Trump is indirectly raising the domestic cost of Aluminum to US industry.

Of course it doesn't take a Sherlock Holmes either, to wonder just how much insider trading is going on behind closed doors here too. Trump likely will not resist the temptation to ensure his own investments are beneficiaries of all of this.

Imagine being able to buy/sell equities, futures and options and then dictate a huge commodity price change by imposing tariffs? It's a license to print money and there's absolutely nothing to stop Trump, Musk et-al from doing this.

Imagine being a member of his inner circle hearing yesterday "Oh by the way, keep this quiet, but I'll be doubling Canada tariffs about an hour after the markets open tomorrow, just FYI".

Aluminum futures anyone? :auiqs.jpg:

1. I support the free market

2. We have a minimum wage. Have had it for a very long time.

3. I support worker's rights to be part of a union if they choose and I support a worker's right to work without being part of a union. And, I support protections from violence for those who choose to work at a place without fear from Unions and their members.

Other countries have been stiffing the US for decades regarding prices. Why don't you sound off against them so that we don't have to impose tariffs?

1. Do free markets not have Unions?

2. When is the last time the federal minimum wage was raised?

3. Do you support government and companies' efforts to repress Unions?
