I had to look at this last claim.

Line of Duty death for Police officers was only 167 last year, and that's when you take out 9/11 related injuries and heart attacks, that number goes down to about 111. Only 47 officers were shot last year, not counting the 3 cases of inadvertant gunfire (that means their fellow cops shot them by mistake.)

In fact, violence against police officers is down compared to past years. Not that it was ever that high to start with.
