President Trump's first renegotiated trade agreement will likely be with Japan. This is because:

1. Japan is our most important ally in the Pacific Region, and it depends on the US being a counterweight to Chinese influence.

2. Japan's economic interests closely align with US interests, so it will be relatively easy to come to a new trade agreement. This will probably involve Japan's agreement to stop selling its own US bonds and start buying Chinese held bonds in order to stabilize US debt payments.

3. The trade agreement with Japan will be used as a template for other trade negotiations. This will allow the US to include provisions which will have little effect on Japan but will give the US more cards to play when negotiating with other countries.

Japan is a trusted ally, they believe in civil liberties and capitalism. They perhaps the most like-minded nation in the world, work hard, achieve success, support freedom of citizens not a covert police state.

Besides all of this they are a military ally now and they both have the same concerns, the same adversary.

I like to hear what the other side's media is saying and so found this Japan Times article interesting.

The value of the yen had become a point of contention in recent weeks, with the U.S. indicating that the Japanese currency might be too weak, while U.S. President Donald Trump has said he would like Japan to pay more for hosting American troops.

“Negotiations going forward won't be easy, but President Trump said he intends to position talks with Japan as top priority,” Ishiba said. The prime minister is considering direct talks with Trump when the time is right.

It mentioned Japan's trade negotiator got an autographed MAGA hat. I think this will bode well for us.

“I truly appreciate that President Trump took the time to meet with me today. To put it bluntly — and frankly speaking — I am clearly far beneath him in terms of status. So the fact that he came out and spoke with me directly is something I am genuinely grateful for,” Akazawa said.

Trump gave Akazawa a signed, red "Make America Great Again" cap and said that the meeting was a good one.

Be careful going by Japan's media. They are as bad as ours.

The Japanese people are pretty based.

I have no problem putting Japan second.

Waiting for the trade agreement, Not just talk about an agreement.
lol ! let us know of any trade agreement in history that was achieved without talking ... many on the left are desperately hoping the agreements fail ... they are absolutely against a win for the US if Trump is the orchestrator of said wins ..

The Japan Times article is just how I like my news, absent of opinion and cherrypicked facts. I favor our financial media and trade journals mostly, where opinion pieces and factual articles are pretty well kept separate.

After the trade wars are settled, we are sure to have our so-called "news" organizations slanting the picture based on which side they aim to please. Fortunately the before-and-after U.S. trade balance figures will decide the matter for folks that look at these things in an objective manner.

Maybe like minded for you!

Japan is the nation with the highest rate of female marital infidelity.

So, you can be just like your cuck Japanese brothers.

CUCK LOSER!

This is a post that hasn't aged well. Japan isn't interested in making a deal. That's because they already made a deal with Trump in 2019, and they're prepared to honor it.

Japan's trade surplus with the USA has been unchanged since Obama was in office. Trump's prior deal had no effect on it whatsoever.
