One of the largest celebrations of this country, it's birthday, it's people, it's freedoms, and our government processes that allow for that, including the President of this country regardless of Who is in office.......what changed their minds???

None of the stories linked that I've read really say WHY, other than the performers comments indicating Trump is to blame. Like I said, didn't they know he was President and would automatically be involved in any such celebration??? Don't they know the office of the Presidency goes hand in hand with this country's founding, it's form of governing, the Constitution/Bill of Rights, etc, etc that is why there are celebrations to begin with??

During the Bicentennial, there were many such celebrations throughout the country, with many of those in DC and Ford attended many of them, all without this type of BS. The left and media keep pushing 'Orange Man Bad' is to blame for everything. He's not, but they are. If the media would STFU, there wouldn't be so much division.



What I find most sad about it is that these performers COULD have been a voice for bringing people together to celebrate the COUNTRY but instead chose to cave to pressure from some of their fans and therefore creating an even bigger divide. I do understand their concerns for safety, but they could have increased their own security detail and/or worked closer with the existing security to help insure everyones safety.

I think they knew Trump was staining the Oval office, but they had reasonable expectations that it would be a non-partisan event rather than the Fascist Road Show he was going to put on.

Well, first, Jerry Ford wasn't an asshole like Trump is.

Secondly, if we have a toxic political climate today, Mr. Mean Tweets is responsible for most of it. I can't think of any President, Republican or Democrat, who conducts with such an utter lack of class or decency the way Trump does.

What I find most sad about it is that these performers COULD have been a voice for bringing people together to celebrate the COUNTRY but instead chose to cave to pressure from some of their fans and therefore creating an even bigger divide.
