I definitely knew I had it. It was godawful. If I had known, even what it was, I would have packed it in, and flown home. I can tell you a ski-in/ski-out condo at 10,000 feet is no place to get over it, and attempting to hit the slopes (as in my bracket, this was a very expensive, planned trip) at 12,000 ft plus with high fever, weak legs and racking cough at 10 degrees Fahrenheit, was simply foolish. I spent more time down on the snow than up on the skis, but of course, once you get off the lift, you are pretty well committed to skiing down. When I did get down, it took me another hour and a half to get from bottom of lift, back to the "Ski-In" condo located near the bottom of a "Black" run. At least I was in my head enough at the decision point to not take the "Black" run, down and back to the condo, as it would surely have killed me. I spent the rest of the trip in the condo, high fever/freezing cold, racking cough to the point of coughing up blood. Back in Jackson, my doctor and nurse practitioner (no help as there were no treatments for the new disease) referred to me as "Patient Zero", first in Jackson, recommended self-quarantine. PJ kept me on lock down in the master bedroom with the door closed, her sleeping in a spare bedroom, while I continued coughing up what appeared to be bits of lung, and continued burning up and freezing until it ran it's course, most of March, though I did avoid hospitalization. Then I became a COVID convalescent plasma donor.
