‘It’s not a vaccine, it’s a shot’: uncovering a new trend in vaccine scepticism

I never had the luxury of bothering to be a vaccine skeptic. Back in the day, I grew up taking all the normal childhood vaccines. Then, upon entering service, I got another round of various vaccine shots by needle or pneumatic, after being order to stand in line. If the Army or the Guard, issued orders for me to go somewhere overseas, I got ordered into another line for another round. It was not a choice, just part of the gig.

Very few, even produced a day's discomfort. The black plague shot, probably the worst, as I and my boss, set that one up for within 24 hours of a 10 hour international flight, that saw lots of vomiting groaning grown men, with no assistance, many off duty on sick call, for a day or so after touchdown, yet we all survive. Though my boss (a Bird Colonel) said that the timing of getting the vaccine to the troops prior to movement, was one dumbass mistake, we would not have to make again, him still being rather green in gills when he said it, as we de-boarded the plane, wanting to make sure it was in my notes for after operations review. So, you could say, compared to average American, I have an unusually eclectic shot record, hence little fear or unease at the latest and greatest vaccine/shot/inoculation meant to prevent or lessen the effects of whatever might be going around, where ever I was or where somebody wanted me to be, and this carries on to today.

I don’t question anything you did there.

Still doesn’t change it into a vaccine.

Thank you for your service W6

anecdotally , i'm a retired ff/emt, 3 decades in. when one joins ems , there are usually many mandatory inoculations as well, rightly so as most of us assume 'puke magnet' status fairly quick

In the field we're required to catalog any given patients 'meds' , most of which had either generic, clinical (think latin) , or market names . I started writing them down to take home and research , because being confronted with folks claiming they were on any given med meant the ability to recognize the pro's & con's of them

Every last med out there has some manner of 'con' that most of us aren't very well informed of.....

As time went on the chief noticed my interest , dubbed me infection control officer , and sent me upstate for training . The job is fairly simple , make sure the crew is up to date in their inoculations, and try to impart the use and importance of PPE on scene and during clean up

But here's the thing, the training they sent me to included doctors AND lawyers.....i was rather taken back by it all......why lawyers? ........because there's a point where science, capitalist medicine and litigation collide

I'm a fairly simple man, but boy did they pop my bubble......~S~

How it became the anti-vaccine, anti-science mantra of ignorant MAGA trolls, I have no idea. It is of note, during the pandemic, Trump eschewed prominent medical advice, that people should avoid crowds, and continued to hold his political rallies, where large crowds gathered, unmasked to prove their support, consistently leading to a spike in COVID-19 cases and COVID-19 deaths (many prominent attending MAGA supporters) after every event.

Injecting bleach is something the left came up with, not anyone on the right.

biden and Harris both said they wouldnt take the vaccine if trump told them to, only to make that same vaccine the centerpiece of their plan to deal with covid.
