MIAMI - President-elect Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Thursday after the brief detention of prominent opposition leader María Corina Machado, who had been leading massive protests against Maduro's government.

On Truth Social, Trump called on Maduro to ensure the safety of opposition leaders, writing:

"Venezuelan democracy activist María Corina Machado and President-elect González are peacefully expressing the voices and the WILL of the Venezuelan people with hundreds of thousands of people demonstrating against the regime. The great Venezuelan American community in the United States overwhelmingly support a free Venezuela and strongly supported me. These freedom fighters should not be harmed and MUST stay SAFE and ALIVE!"

Maduro was elected with a far greater share of the vote that Donald Trump ever was.

The US is doing what it always does and Trump is playing along like most of those presidents before him, in meddling in another country's government because that government isn't doing America's bidding.

If Trump cared about democracy and "dictators" why does he say nothing about Saudi Arabia's brutal dictatorship?

Where's Juan?

"Leftist President Maduro, left, has been challenged by Guaido, who has declared himself as the leader of the country."

Venezuela’s Maduro joins hands with Guaido in fight against virus
There is a US backed effort to overthrow the elected leader of Venezuela. The US has repeatedly interfered in Venezuelan politics for decades. The US wants a different government to that wanted by the people of Venezuela, that - in a nutshell - is what this is all about.

Trump like Biden, is now doing his part to undermine democracy in Venezuela just as Trump already did here in 2020.

So you're not only lying on pallywood history...but on Iran' socialist-dictatorship ally too.

1. Why would George Walker Bush "invade" Venezuela?
2. Who are currently socialist-dictatorship-Venezuela's allies - Vs Edmundo Gonzalez's allies?

Yeah, why would Dubya try and oust the leader of Venezuela in a US backed coup in 2002?

Why would Dubya go to war in Iraq when no Iraqis were part of 9/11, but not go to war with Saudi Arabia which had loads and ibn Laden was from there???

Simple answer is oil and OPEC.

Hugo Chavez wanted to see OPEC use its strength to make more money for OPEC members. The US didn't like this, so attacked the four countries in OPEC that were against the US.

That was Venezuela - coup against Chavez organized with help from the US govt and heavy sanctions.

Iraq - invaded in 2003

Libya - bombed and leader deposed in 2011

Iran - threats of invasion that never materialized (to the point where the US media was preparing the way for the US public to accept an invasion) and heavy sanctions

The American history of meddling in Venezuela goes back to 1895, at least. Grover Cleveland's administration invoked the Monroe Doctrine to side with Venezuela against the UK in their border dispute.

Three years later the US oil companies called on their Navy to bring democracy to Caracas:

The History - and Hypocrisy - of US Meddling in Venezuela - Venezuelanalysis

"Later, during the Dutch-Venezuelan crisis of 1908, the US Navy helped Venezuelan Vice President Juan Vicente Gómez seize power in a coup.

"Gómez, known as 'The Catfish,' would rule the country either directly or through puppet presidents, until his death in 1935.

"His regime was one of inconceivably medieval brutality.

"His enforcers were fond of shackling political prisoners in grillos, leg irons that rendered many victims permanently disabled — and those were the 'lucky' ones.

"The unlucky ones were hanged to death by meat hooks through their throats or testicles.

"Gómez was fantastically corrupt.

"He was believed to be worth a staggering $200 million, or more than $3.6 billion today, at the time of his death.

"However, he endeared himself to Washington and Wall Street by granting highly lucrative concessions to foreign oil companies including Standard Oil (ExxonMobil today)"

This radical Arab ("sherlock holmes") is FOR dictator Maduro.
As he is for "palestine" dictatorship in Gaza and Ramallah, as well as the Islamic Fascist Republic mullahcracy

I can remember one winter back when Chavez was president in Venezuela. The Northeast US was paralyzed by a major snowstorm and heating oil was in high demand and there were shortages. Chavez sent a tanker full of heating oil to the US.

I suspect Trump is ignorant and indifferent to all the ways the world has changed since he first took office eight years ago:

Trump’s Empire of Chaos and the Delusion of “Fortress America” - Revolutionary Communists of America

"However, the world has changed significantly since he first entered the White House in 2017.

"The botched pandemic, the debacle of NATO’s proxy war in Ukraine, and the genocidal slaughter in Gaza have transformed world relations and upended any illusions millions may have had in the system.

"World capitalism is in serious trouble, and American capitalism is at the heart of the rot."

Don the Con thinks "America First" requires a return to "Fortress America" at a time when a majority of the world is finished with American "Full Spectrum Dominance."

How long will he refuse to start any new wars?

The Sheriff that said "we don't want to have new wars" suddenly is threatening everyone....
Maduro threatened to invade Puerto Rico. Trump's statement to Maduro is literally an attempt to avoid a war...lol

If Trump didn't say anything you people would lose your shit and start going on about how he hate Puerto Ricans and loves dictators, or whatever kind of bullshit you could come up with.

None of their rhetoric is going to change. 4 more years of "Trump is evil, corrupt, and only out for himself". Guess what? It has not worked. The harder they come after him the stronger he gets.
