Trump didn’t back Venezuelan opposition leader because she committed the ‘ultimate sin’

Despite her effusive praise of President Donald Trump, Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado is not president of the country today because she committed the “ultimate sin” in his eyes, according to a shocking new report.

“Two people close to the White House said the president’s lack of interest in boosting Machado, despite her recent efforts to flatter Trump, stemmed from her decision to accept the Nobel Peace Prize, an award the president has openly coveted," the Washington Post reported.

“Although Machado ultimately said she was dedicating the award to Trump, her acceptance of the prize was an ‘ultimate sin,’ said one of the people,” the Post report continued.

“‘If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,’ this person said.”

This is some of the pettiest shit I have seen in my life.

tRump is leaving a whole country in a dictatorship because someone else got "his" peace prize.

We are living is the twilight zone.
The whole episode seems to be about Trump's ego and Trump's selfishness.

Maduro had a warrant and a bounty on him, and was ruler of an illegitimate regime.

Some dem does what Trump did and you would be sucking his dick while being pegged by his VP.
One of the things I love most about Americans is their unconscious reasoning that 'America wants it' is a legal argument.

The problem with Trump is this is completely believable. It fits right into his personality. The man is a massive narcissist. I approve of what he did with Maduro, but make no mistake about it. Everything Trump does is first and foremost to the benefit of Trump, including his actions in Venezuela. What is troubling about him currently allowing the Chavistas to remain in power is that there will continue to be issues with the nation's economy, civil liberties, and human rights. The opposition would immediately address these concerns. Trump's ego may end up with Venezuela trading one dictator for another.

Machado is a trained industrial engineer who was elected to Venezuela’s national assembly in 2010 and became a forceful critic of government abuse of power, one who was able to unite the fragmented opposition in the country. Machado and the opposition have gone to great lengths in recent months to make clear they are ready to lead the country, laying out a plan to restore basic liberties and the private economy and end the government’s cooperation with blackmarket drug smugglers. For now, Trump has cast that plan aside.

“It’s a tremendous strategic and moral mistake” for Trump to distance himself from Machado, says Ian Vásquez, an expert on Latin America at the Cato Institute. To say Machado doesn’t have support inside Venezuela is “patently untrue,” says Vásquez.

He only works towards the interests of the USA if they happen to coincide with his own personal interests.
If this were true he wouldnt have bombed Irans nukes or went after Maduro. These decisions cost political capital and risks dividing the GOP and pushing away non-interventionalist voters, of which there are more than ever on all sides.

That said, he has wisely not gone to a full blown war. I could probably argue that it is a more viable position to take than some other wars in the wrong part of the desert pursued in the last 25 years.

From the analyses I read, there are groups with various interests coalescing to drive the invasion with no consensual view of the day after.

Iraq R US

I wonder if the old Banana Barons bought the US army the same way the present Oil Barons do.
