Trump didn’t back Venezuelan opposition leader because she committed the ‘ultimate sin’

Seems fair.

[...] Setting apart all the questions about just what the White House is trying to accomplish in Venezuela, my most basic takeaway from the events of the last week is this: as President Trump’s popularity and power erode domestically he will respond with more aggressive assertions of power in those areas where his executive and prerogative authorities remain unbounded, where his domestic popularity matters the least. (This applies most obviously, though not only, to his military powers overseas.)
Anything else wouldn’t be consistent with Trump’s character, which is inflexible and unchanging, though perhaps hardening with the progress of advanced age. The current situation between the U.S. and Venezuela shows how jagged, unstable and uneven this may become.

I wonder if the old Banana Barons bought the US army the same way the present Oil Barons do.
They did. Read Smedley Butler. Trump isn't doing what those assholes did.

From the analyses I read, there are groups with various interests coalescing to drive the invasion with no consensual view of the day after.

Iraq R US
This is more Libya than Iraq. In Libya they just wanted Gaddafi out. They got it, then let warring factions fight each other for the next two decades.

Iraq there was a plan, of sorts, not a very good one. But Iran messed that up for them

Every post invasion analysis shows the US did not plan for occupation. Oh, ok, if wishful thinking is a plan, sure.

As though warring factions in Iraq did not fight for years.

Trump didn’t back Venezuelan opposition leader because she committed the ‘ultimate sin’

Despite her effusive praise of President Donald Trump, Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado is not president of the country today because she committed the “ultimate sin” in his eyes, according to a shocking new report.

“Two people close to the White House said the president’s lack of interest in boosting Machado, despite her recent efforts to flatter Trump, stemmed from her decision to accept the Nobel Peace Prize, an award the president has openly coveted," the Washington Post reported.

“Although Machado ultimately said she was dedicating the award to Trump, her acceptance of the prize was an ‘ultimate sin,’ said one of the people,” the Post report continued.

“‘If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,’ this person said.”

This is some of the pettiest shit I have seen in my life.

tRump is leaving a whole country in a dictatorship because someone else got "his" peace prize.

We are living is the twilight zone.
The ultimate sin is Democrats backing a pig-******* human rights abuser Maduro only because you people hate Trump. Viva Venezuela!!

Yes, but Libya their "plan" was "stuff it, let's just leave them to it".

Maduro had a warrant and a bounty on him, and was ruler of an illegitimate regime.

Some dem does what Trump did and you would be sucking his dick while being pegged by his VP.
Exactly.

It was Biden (the Autopen, really) that offered the increased bounty on Maduro. The money should be paid directly to Trump from funds for one of Biden's pet projects.

Trump would donate it, likely to a scholarship for children of Delta Force soldiers, but it would be a nice gesture.

I love the way Americans think that has some force in law.

Exceptional.

That said, he has wisely not gone to a full blown war.
I actually agree with Trump’s actions re: Maduro

But, let’s be honest, abducting another nation’s president and taking him and his wife to the USA for trial can definitely be considered an act of war by any reasonable definition

The act of war was against the U.S when they poisoned hundreds of thousands of Americans to their deaths. I can assure you that some of Americas worst enemies are fortunate that they dont have a more fierce president because any communist nation murdering 100s of thousands of Americans on my watch would risk being economically crippled. This war against America has gone on for decades, who is going to be angry enough to crush these ruthless, evil foreign leaders for their mass destruction on U.S soil? In these.countries you cant buy food or use the internet without the government knowing the details, but shipping death poisons is easily conducted? At best, it is passive approval.

Why don't you ever have names of these people? Anonymous sources say you screw goats. Must be true, see how that works?

Drug dealers shouldn’t be dealing drugs, but addicts shouldn’t be purchasing and consuming them either.

The Americans actively seeking and purchasing illegal drugs are just as much part of the problem

It takes two to tango

No one takes anything to O.D. Fentanyl was.designed to kill and theh are placing it in many poisons which are far less potent to unwittingly murder citizens.

Taking illegal street drugs has always come with the very real and very constant risk of OD due to not knowing what’s in it. It’s not like this started with fentanyl

It’s not like illegal street drugs are regulated by the FDA….

You’re acting as though someone was putting fentanyl in Tylenol or something….

And BTW, fentanyl is also a 100% legitimate medication when taken as prescribed. I’ve had jobs where I administered it to patients on a daily basis. I don’t think people understand that

This is more about them drugs. This is to send a message to leaders in Central and South America and Cuba. Coddle up close with China and Uncle Sam will set you straight.
