Bill O'Reilly on News Nation today stated that Trump's real interest in Greenland is their Lithium deposits which could go a long way in breaking China's monopoly on the vital metal. That makes a lot of sense and Trump will make it very attractive for the Danes as well as the Greenlanders.

Always fair a and legal to make an offer, just as fair and legal to decline sale. They appear to have quit any kind of mining. If no sale, maybe could negotiate a mining lease, if willing to pay the environmental damage.

So, Trump thinks this electric can and battery demand is here to stay? Gee, and I thought he wanted to kill electric go keep using petroleum fuels. You know, "drill baby drill" even though we have setting world records and leading global oil production for years, nobody else even real close?

The resources have vastly more value than merely electric cars.

Plus, there are geopolitical and military considerations.

Trump wants a deal so badly, any deal he can make will be shit compared to what could be made

OK. Electric car batteries and other batteries. I am well aware of the strategic importance, especially if Trump is not planning on keeping US tied to fossil fuels forever. So instead of
"Drill Baby Drill" he wants to "Dig Baby Dig" as long as not having to deal with environmental impact, within the contiguous states.

Cellphone batteries are a bigger market I believe. Yes if he's successful, it will probably be some sort of lease deal. And of course a couple of military bases to protect our investment as well as the Arctic flank.

False dichotomy.

It is both drill AND dig.

We need energy. We need LOTS of energy. And we need oil for a lot more than “just” energy, too.

UNTIL that day comes when our energy needs (business and personal and military) can be satisfied without oil, we need to stop pretending that “alternative energy” could ever fill the void.

Of course they can't. Yes, he wants a deal bad, but even I don't think he and his advisors would purposely make a shit deal. Of course if he gets a personal benefit, all bets are off. We don't mean jacksht to him, in front of the bottom line.

Without a doubt. AI, drones, submersibles, missiles, smart bombs, starships...they all use electricity.

Maybe there's dilithium & vibranium under greenland! :dunno:
Well, that would save Elon a trip to Corvan II.

Trump is the top negotiator in the world. He always seems to swing the impossible. If anyone can get Greenland for us, this great man can. I fully support whatever he wants to do.

A true mark of a leader is seeing what others don't see.

The question is, will the US become a processor of lithium ore?

Thats messy and the environmentalists are certain to pitch a fit

We already have a military base there, and have had several, over the years.

The Chinese took over the Afghan deposits when Joe cut and ran..
