Where were these subsidies when the government forced tobacco farmers to stop growing tobacco and shift to soybeans? It ran my entire family out of the business in the 70s. No farmers anymore. I had about 60 some cousins. Not a farmer left among them.

China, which in October agreed to end its monthslong boycott of American soybeans amid a trade war, to date has bought only about 3 million metric tons, the trade representative told members of the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies subcommittee.

President Donald Trump’s decision to let U.S. tech giant Nvidia sell more advanced semiconductors to China is getting pushback from some Republicans wary of giving Beijing an edge in the global race to AI dominance.The agreement, which Trump announced in a Truth Social post Monday evening, would allow Nvidia to sell its H200 artificial intelligence chips to China on the condition that the U.S. government gets 25% of the sales.

Yeah, instead you pay a higher price for a domestic product, or you go without cuz you can't afford the higher price. Let me clue you in on something: if I'm trying to support my family then I'm going to spend my money as wisely as possible and I don't give a flyin' **** where my purchases came from. If it's something I can do without cuz it ain't absolutely necessary, then I'll find an alternative or go without.
And another thing: importers will raise their prices on other non-tariffed goods to help defray the tariff costs. The idea that the foreign exporter will pay for the tariffs is BS, eventually it always comes down to the consumer. If Trump continues with his tariffs then I predict we'll see higher inflation in 2026 and beyond. And if that happens it could bite Trump and the GOP in the ass next year and in 2028. Which I believe will lead to Trump's decision to reduce or eliminate many tariffs by next summer.
