Trump is guilty as ****, so he had to plead the 5th because he had no valid legal excuse for his criminal actions. Also this disposition is under oath, so if Trump told more lies he would get another criminal charge.

Of course, but that in no way voids his right to constitutional protection. He could have cursed lawyers up and down every day of his life, but he would still be entitled to representation. He can claim that people who invoke the 5th Amendment are guilty and still be found not guilty because he invoked it and they couldn't make their case. Hypocrisy is not a crime. If it were, the vast majority of the Congressional offices in Washington would be empty. Our justice system is set up so that everyone gets a fair trial, no matter how unpopular or popular they may be.
