'Trump was asked to grant clemency to Esformes on the recommendation of numerous respected legal figures, including former Attorneys-General Edwin Meese, Alberto Gonzales, and Michael Mukasey, as well as former Deputy Attorney-General Larry Thompson. 1) Did you even bother to actually read and comprehend your link?

2) Do you know what clemency is?

And 3) Did you know that the government can retry people in cases where a jury doesn't reach a verdict?

Because if you had, you would have known that he was convicted on 20 counts, and his sentence was commuted to time served. The clemency Trump awarded to him was for the 20 counts he was convicted on.

There were several other counts where the jury was unable to reach a verdict. And, in those cases where a jury is unable to reach a verdict, they are usually just set aside, but, prosecution CAN retry a person if the jury doesn't agree if they choose to.

(a) Return. The jury must return its verdict to a judge in open court. The verdict must be unanimous. (b) Partial Verdicts, Mistrial, and Retrial. (1) Multiple Defendants. If there are multiple defendants, the jury may return a verdict at any time during its deliberations as to any defendant...
