Trump still hasn't signed ethics pledge.

Well, I just read that a president is never actually assigned a security clearance. His clearance is tied to the office, so for potus, it’s automatic.

He won't be president till next year.

Trump still hasn't agreed to abide by the "Presidential Transition Act" which is required by law and which applies to all members of his transition team before they receive top secret clearance. Updates to that bill requiring the ethics pledge were introduced by Trump ally Sen. Ron Johnson, a Wisconsin Republican, and signed into law by Trump himself in March 2020. The deadline was October 1. It was expected that making the pledge would be a common practice adhered to by all presidential hopefuls. Another example of how we have always been able to assume our elected leaders would behave in an ethical way. Obviously, trump has chosen to not limit himself to ethical behavior. The transition of presidents involves informing the new, incoming president and his transition team of top-secret information, so they will be ready on day one. Obviously, trump is not interested in any restrictions on his ethics as president, so he still ignores the law.

Luv that guy

It would be preferable if democrats wouldn't give our security briefings to the world press. Since they can't stop themselves, it's more important to protect the country.
It also means Trumps transition team can't be told about any unindicted Iranian hit squads.

The ethics pledge is to be signed by the members of the transition team, not the incoming POTUS, silly...

``(iii) a Code of Ethical Conduct, which each
member of the transition team will sign and be
subject to, that reflects the content of the
ethics plans under this paragraph and at a minimum
requires transition team members to--
``(I) seek authorization from

transition team leaders or their
designees before seeking, on behalf of
the transition, access to any nonpublic
information;
``(II) keep confidential any

nonpublic information provided in the
course of the duties of the member with
the transition and exclusively use such
information for the purposes of the
transition; and
``(III) not use any nonpublic

information provided in the course of
transition duties, in any manner, for
personal or private gain for the member
or any other party at any time during or
after the transition;

He just won this week.

Are all you people on drugs?

I'm not a Trump fan, but I am a patriotic American, and I want any incoming president and his team to be prepared to lead and defend the country on day one.

George W. Bush blamed being unprepared for 9-11 on his shortened transition.

And you want Trump to have virtually no transition at all?
The story only says that Trump hasn't signed the pledge or whatever.

If his team signs, no problem. If the Democrat half of the transition team decides not to be petty, no problem.

You seem to want it to be a problem.

Your party whined about Trump ending democracy. It turned out democracy led to him being the next president, and now you're butthurt.

How could be have his transition team sign it by October 1st? They just won a few days ago and he has just begun selecting who will be in his Administration. :cuckoo:

You people get worked up by the dumbest things.

. . . and the president can get waivers if applicable.

This narrative is fake. They are supposed to have all sorts of time to get those waivers in.

Who might need a waiver?

"A waiver can be granted to former lobbyists appointed to the executive branch if their job entails working on policy issues that came up in their former jobs.

That situation is common, as a lobbyist’s expertise in a policy area is often the reason they’re hired. As an alternative to a waiver, officials can recuse themselves from working on matters involving former clients or employers.

Copies of the waiver documents are due by June 1, though the files may not fully capture the extent of former lobbyists now working in Trump’s administration.

Although the White House has several former lobbyists and industry executives nominated for jobs, several of them have yet to be unconfirmed by the Senate, including David Bernhardt, a former energy lobbyist at top K Street firm Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, who has been chosen to be the No. 2 official at the Interior Department.

Since the waivers are granted as a way around the administration’s ethics pledge, they cannot be granted until a person joins the administration. . . . "

The Biden admin filed all sorts of waivers, long after inauguration.

etc. . .

You would think that after the left got a shellacking, they might start being skeptical of Deep State media and narratives.

But we all know that old saying by now.

Four more years with an orange bag O' shit where I can openly embezzle, cheat on my taxes and **** around on my wife if I so choose and not suffer any legal repercussions!

The big ticket items Trump was elected to handle don't require security clearances. Plus who says Trump isn't simply going to have a more open administration in which very few things are classified?
