Trump still hasn't signed ethics pledge.

If you had been paying attention, Trump didn't sign it because he didn't want the security briefings. Past acts were that he would get the briefing, the security team would leak the entire briefing to the press then blame Trump for the leak.

He learned that lesson. When the security team has been fired and replaced with American loyalists. Everything will be signed as it should be.

The ethics pledge is to be signed by the members of the transition team, not the incoming POTUS, silly...

``(iii) a Code of Ethical Conduct, which each
member of the transition team will sign and be
subject to, that reflects the content of the
ethics plans under this paragraph and at a minimum
requires transition team members to--
``(I) seek authorization from

transition team leaders or their
designees before seeking, on behalf of
the transition, access to any nonpublic
information;
``(II) keep confidential any

nonpublic information provided in the
course of the duties of the member with
the transition and exclusively use such
information for the purposes of the
transition; and
``(III) not use any nonpublic

information provided in the course of
transition duties, in any manner, for
personal or private gain for the member
or any other party at any time during or
after the transition;

He just won this week.
You beat me to it

I think it says members of the transition team have to sign it. I don’t think it says anything about the president, that I’ve seem
The candidate signs it, and in the process submits members of his transition team for security clearances.

Trump as president elect, has no power over classified materials. He can't declassify, or reveal classified materials, or give classified information to anyone without a security clearance.

Never mind, I suppose he would be, if this is required then I suppose he has to sign it

Oh God no! Not the ETHICS PLEDGE! Say it isn't so!!! This is even worse than Trump not turning over his tax returns!

It's required?

So, if he never signs it, Biden stays president forever? That sounds very disruptive to democracy. I'm worried.

Oh, wait. Turns out no:

Article II, Section 1, Clause 5:

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Nothing about any ethics agreement, loyalty pledge, diversity plan, environmental impact statement, land acknowledgement, or any other requirement except the ones listed above.

I can’t find anything that says Trump is a part of that team.
Who picks the members of Trumps transition team?
Who does the transition team work for?

This isn't rocket science.

That covers non-public information,
NOT classified information.
I’m sure trump maintains his security clearances from his previous presidency

Trump still hasn't agreed to abide by the "Presidential Transition Act" which is required by law and which applies to all members of his transition team before they receive top secret clearance. Updates to that bill requiring the ethics pledge were introduced by Trump ally Sen. Ron Johnson, a Wisconsin Republican, and signed into law by Trump himself in March 2020. The deadline was October 1. It was expected that making the pledge would be a common practice adhered to by all presidential hopefuls. Another example of how we have always been able to assume our elected leaders would behave in an ethical way. Obviously, trump has chosen to not limit himself to ethical behavior. The transition of presidents involves informing the new, incoming president and his transition team of top-secret information, so they will be ready on day one. Obviously, trump is not interested in any restrictions on his ethics as president, so he still ignores the law.

Let the nitpicking begin. He won. Stop your whining, *****.

Unless he retains security clearance from his previous presidency.

Yep, you’re right. He does pick his team

I agree, he should sign it, along with every member of congress

Here's a hint. It's about getting access for classified information.

Without it, anyone in the transition team who doesn't currently have a security clearance doesn't get to see any confidential, secret or top secret information. PERIOD.

Now you're being stupid. A presidents security clearance is only in effect while he's president. Unless the current president grants them a security clearance.

This was all explained.

Once Trump becomes president, he will be the sole decider of what is classified or not, and how it is handled.

If Team Harris-Biden want to be petty about the transition, let them. It's their swan song anyway, so who cares?

Bill Clinton's people stole all the keyboard keys with the letter "W" before they left the White House. It's the kind of childish BS we've come to expect.

So any given candidate is supposed to have their 'team' sign onto an ethics doc a month before they're elected, or even have a team picked out???? ~S~

It means the transition team members are kept in the dark.
The people transitioning for the department of defense, don't get to find out anything about the state of our military forces, except what they can read in the newspapers.
And nothing about our nuclear forces can be revealed to them.

So when they take charge on January 20th, they better be able to read months worth of classified materials ASAP.
