Trump simply, right or wrong, ran on a platform of correcting the mistakes and terrible leadership of the Biden/Harris administration. Whether he can deliver or not remains to be seen, but at least he, like the majority of voters, recognized the economic problems that Harris either denied or ignored.

The point is that the current administration was so abysmal that someone as poorly favored as Trump could be elected. Most sensible voters realized that this was a year where you had to hold your nose and vote for the "least worse" candidate. I don't hold out a lot of hope for Trump, but at least the 4 years he was in office in the past the country was much better off that it has been for the last four. I have been asking to see your stats, but nobody has any. You would have voted for her, except for the economy? They failed to sell her in less than 160 days, and no primary wins as she was not running for President then. It is as simple as that. The votes she got were simply the anti-trump vote, not the believers in Kamala vote.

The AP asked that question in 2020 and 2024.

In 2020 it was 35% that said their vote was against the other candidate.
In 2024 it was 25%. That's a 10% decline in the voters that answered that way.

Trump's supporters obviously support Trump with high numbers- 90% positives, etc.

Meaning most of those "anti" votes were on the D side (in both elections). To that extent you are right- a lot of Harris voters were just voting against Trump. The same applies to Biden in 2020, but to a greater extent.

Wrt the economy, your graph on the commodity prices tells the story just fine- Biden inflation drove up the prices of commodities, and voters experienced that (painfully) every time they went to the grocery store.
