Appeasing and Capitulating to what the World expects of US at each and every turn is not respect. And, that is the approach that Democrats take when it comes to the rest of the World.
Being “liked” and being “respected” are not the same. You can be liked but also means when you do something counter to what others expect or want from you, they still respect you.
You can also be personally hated and everything you do is not liked by what others expect of you and in some cases, still Respected.
