MAGA has been pretty straight forward about wanting illegals deported and many have made no exception for the so-called DACA immigrants. Trump wants them to be able to stay.

"I will work with the Democrats on a plan. And if we can come up with a plan, but the Democrats have made it very, very difficult to do anything. Republicans are very open to the dreamers. The dreamers, we're talking many years ago, they were brought into this country," the president-elect told host Kristen Welker. "Many years ago. Some of them are no longer young people. And in many cases, they've become successful. They have great jobs. In some cases, they have small businesses. Some cases they might have large businesses. And we're going to have to do something with them."

Welker then asked, "You want them to be able to stay. That's what you're saying?"

Trump replied, "I do. I want to be able to work something out."

I'm fine with this plan. I've made the same argument for years, but where do Trump's hardcore supporters stand on this issue?

Trump wanted DACA people to stay in his first term.

They were brought here when they were young (around 2 or 3).

They're around 35-40 now...they don't even remember their country of origin. I would guess in that time they've gotten an education and a job...become a functioning part of society.

As long as they're not a criminal...it's reasonable to let them stay. There should be something more permanent for them so they could breathe a sigh of relief.

Nothing matters unless the border is secure.

If Trump can't do that, then all is lost.

Deportation should be focused on immigrant law breakers, especially those who have committed felonies or worse.

This will be fully supported by MAGA now. Many will argue they have supported it all along.
I have no problem with them staying, if they don't have a criminal record.

But they can never vote because coming here illegally disqualified them.

You aren't thinking........Democrats have been making them promises for years and did nothing.

If Trump gets them permanent status and even a right to vote, who are they going to vote for?

They would eventually become citizens, so yes, they would vote.

If they're black they'll vote Democrat. Mainly because the left will give them plenty of excuses not to vote for Trump. Blacks still voted over 80% for Kamala. Latinos voted 40% for Trump already.

It doesn't matter what Trump does to help them, they can still be tricked into voting Democrat by our corrupt media.

They wouldn't qualify for naturalization.

Yes, they would, if they are given legal status. There have been people who had initially entered the country illegally and eventually became citizens.

They wouldn't qualify for naturalization. They can be like Puerto Ricans......enjoy all of the benefits of citizenship but not being able to vote.
It all depends on the new law that Congress passes. Every Democrat will likely vote for it if it lets them stay, but Republicans will not go for it if full citizenship is the goal.

Is being tricked how you vote?

Prediction. Dreamers get citizenship and Trump gets his wall. This was the previous offer.

But "Trump is a liar", so that means he's going to boot them out too.

In some extreme cases. You can apply for asylum if you're trying to escape political or religious persecution in your home country. Never for economic reasons.
Most of these folks coming in went thru Mexico to come here. They have no right to expect citizenship from the US because they could have stayed in Mexico. Mexico isn't the total shithole Honduras or some of these other countries are. So the fact they abused the system should cause a rejection of their application. They could get a work permit, but never a chance at citizenship.

I have nothing against immigration. Although a lot of my family is Native-American I still have immigrants on both sides of my family. My closest non-American relative to me was my Great Grandmother who immigrated here from the Netherlands.

Granted it's been awhile ago but I don't believe that is how it worked when Reagan granted citizenship to illegals.
Reagan wanted to make the problem go away. So he made a deal with crooked Democrats and they took advantage of him.

They only made the problem worse by establishing precedent for more of them to come here.

I imagine neither party will address the jobs issue which will do just fine to make sure more comes so we can revisit this some time in the future.
