I'm not really against capital punishment but the way it is administered is deeply flawed in nearly every way. Far too many innocent people have ended up on death row.

People don't just get let off death row. They get a new trial where often suppressed or ignored evidence gets presented. A man that goes to a capital murder trial with a public defender is as good as dead.

There are differing degrees of Public Defender, the middling ones who handle DWI's don't get Capital cases the same as the Prosecutors.

Only use it in cases where the defendant is unquestionably guilty and it's problem solved. Now what are you going to do about the undeniable racial bias between getting death and life in prison?

Plenty of white guys on death row, and the current DP opponents tend to focus more on blacks than whites as a matter of principle.

Also blacks commit crimes worthy of the death penalty at a rate higher than whites, so when comparing the numbers you have to go with DP crimes like murders to get the proper comparison, and eliminate crimes with no possible DP implications that whites seem to do more.
