After Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law in 2010, Republicans hysterically attacked it and won control of the House and gained seven seats in the Senate. After Trump vowed to (and failed to) repeal it in 2016, the legislation soared to majoritarian approval in the country.

Even if Republicans take back both houses in 2022, they won't be able to undo the progress that will have been made.

Much as they'd love to impose more State restrictions on marriage by re-imposing gender discrimination or consign control of wombs to their bureaucrats, it isn't going to happen. Trump's promise to rebuild the nation's crumbling infrastructure (that he also failed to fulfill) will have been accomplished, and the inevitable pendulum swing continue.
