Trump out bidding States for medical supplies

"President Donald Trump’s directive for governors to buy their own medical supplies to fight the coronavirus has run into a big problem -- the federal government.

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker told Trump during a video conference on Thursday that his state three times lost out to the federal government on purchases of critical supplies, creating an awkward moment during the made-for-TV event at Federal Emergency Management Agency headquarters in Washington."

Governors across the nation slam federal coronavirus response: ‘We didn’t take this seriously’

Telling the states to independently forage for supplies has created a bidding war between the states and the federal government. What should have happened is the federal government coordinating the distribution of supplies based on immediate need. BECAUSE EVEN NOW THERE IS STILL A SHORTAGE OF SUPPLIES.

Critical supplies shortage hampers hospitals, health providers

"Hospitals and health care providers don’t have enough of the critical supplies needed to protect doctors and nurses from the coronavirus, and governors say the Trump administration isn’t doing enough to help.

Lawmakers in New Jersey, Washington state and Maryland say they have only received a fraction of the protective equipment they requested from a national stockpile of medical supplies managed by the federal government.

Meanwhile, nurses, doctors and other health care workers all around the country are being told to ration the gear that protects them from the virus, raising questions about the risk posed to those on the front lines of the pandemic."

Trump's laissez faire attitude about the pandemic Testing blunders crippled US response as coronavirus spread
not only lead to a shortage of supplies, it has caused a chaotic situation regarding their dispersal.

It's been an epic failure of leadership from day one.

FORE!

You are dishonest.

As is the msm and most liberals.

I truly don't understand why liberals can't debate a topic without insults.

Must be their lack of maturity.

Dupe thread.

Berg is having to recycle shit for his multiple daily "Trump messed up coronavirus" pissy pants threads.

This thread is yet another attempt to drag, kicking and screaming, Trumpleton's in to the real, factual world. Not the one the Liar-in-Chief wants them to believe in.

Stop!

Obamaphyles continue to fail in their mission.

You continue to fail.

Wouldn't it be nice for a change to hear what poster's like Berg, and Tommy offer what they would have done differently, instead of the daily bilge of carping what the President is doing wrong in their eyes to attack, attack, attack?
This seems fairly implicit.
exercise his powers under the Defense Production Act

Why would he have to at this point, he has companies stepping up to ramp production of needed materials...

I have repeatedly posted on that topic. If Trump had not treated the threat from the virus so cavalierly he could have initiated plans to address the inevitable shortage of supplies back in Jan.

It's always easy to armchair quaterback from afar isn't it?

In the short term we are screwed

but long term slap huge tariffs on imported drugs and and that will bring production back to America where it belongs

I call it a lack of planning by the state and local health departments
No amount of spin and deflection changes the fact the federal government is the only entity capable of centrally managing the crisis and ordering private industry to help shrink the gap between supplies we have and supplies we need. Nice try.

that changes nothing

the local and state governments have primary responsibility for the health of their citizens

its liberal deep blue districts that are in the most trouble and the least prepared

I agree that we need to address production of our life saving prescription drugs, but, I don't think we are 'screwed' short term either. Companies are ramping production as we speak...This is America....We will prevail.

Thats a pretty stupid reply

if you allow china to make all your drugs they do have a stranglehold and some day you might die

moving production back to America is the sensible thing to do

We’re not going to die in mass numbers as libs were hoping for
