The Surgeon General is primarily an administrator... a pencil-pusher... a bureaucrat with a medical diploma.

And this person reportedly is focused upon preventive medicine and healthier lifestyles which sorts well with the SG's role.

I would not have chosen this person myself, admittedly, but she may have natural talent as a Healthy Living Bureaucrat.

I can live with that for a few years so long as the US Public Health Service continues to properly execute its core mission.

If the USPHS deviates too far from that path, well, then I'll "have a problem" with her, but I'm not overly concerned presently.
