Trump Mercilessly Mocked Over Frighteningly False Tariff Claim

Trump killed South Carolina soybean farmers. Now the Chinese buy all their soybeans in Brazil.

So TRUMP went after the greedy soybean farmers...not following the issue.

Mark Cuban joined a number of critics who mocked Donald Trump on Saturday after the Republican presidential nominee’s false claim that imposing tariffs doesn’t ā€œaffect our country.ā€

The former president, in a meandering speech at a campaign rally, pledged to impose tariffs on foreign-made products from China and other countries in order to bring jobs ā€œback homeā€ in an effort to take in ā€œbillions and billions of dollars.ā€

ā€œA tariff is a tax on a foreign country, that’s the way it is, whether you like it or not. A lot of people like to say, ā€˜Oh, it’s a tax on us.’ No, no, no,ā€ Trump told the crowd at the rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.

He later added, ā€œIt’s a tax on a country that’s ripping us off and stealing our jobs. And it’s a tax that doesn’t affect our country.ā€

Trump has previously pushedthe false claim on tariffs despite multiplemediaoutlets noting that American consumers and industries have bore much of the cost of Trump’s tariffs.

Several economists recently told Newsweek that his tariff proposal would raise prices for U.S. consumers and that such a plan would hurt American companies as well.

Trump Mercilessly Mocked Over Frighteningly False Tariff Claim

How can a guy who bills himself as a businessman not know what tariffs are? He not only got tariffs wrong, he also forgot where he was and thought he was in North Carolina! The poor guy is losing it. In more ways than one!
Huffpo isn't a credible source, silly. So who cares what anonymous x trolls say?

:itsok: That's ok, retard. Anything that helps you sleep at night.

Send Mark Cuban over to me. If he can control his emotions as he does seem to suffer from some form ADD or something judging by the way he continued to cut off Vivek who debated him; I will happily educate him on tariffs. He will surely lose the debate even for all the wealth he has accumulated. S

See the number of posts I have made on this issue. The problem is today that most are taught in Business School that something is bad, without it being in context. It's why so many contrarian investors have made bank over their careers.

I'm a libertarian, but I don't believe in being abused by foreign nations. Thus, reciprocity is important.

Cuban is clearly not a man who manufactures in the U.S. Therefore, he can fly a kite in a thunderstorm and go swim in his billions. Tariffs do NOT affect America. They contribute to the treasury and consumers have a choice.

If the importer passes the tariff on to the consumer, there is no law that says that the consumer has to support the company. Perhaps they will find a domestic manufactured product which is cheaper (and made better) as the local manufacturer doesn't have to pay the tariff. Tariffs make it more unappealing to manufacture outside of the U.S. That's all.

If it contributes to higher prices it is only because the consumer accepted THAT manufacturing passing it on to them.
Tarrifs DO affect America because we're the ones as consumers who are paying them, CLOWN.

Where are the electronic devices you use manufactured?

Sigh. Read my postings on the manner. You reflexively don't understand the bigger picture.

All nations use tariffs. You don't arm a nation that is expanding their military faster than any in history and which has operated at every level as if they are already at war with you.

No one forces you to buy Made in China. It would be quite wise to return the Middle Class instead of exporting jobs to those who wish to usurp you.

Only problem with this shallow analysis... Americans rely on cheap Chinese goods, since our wages are pathetic.

You can manufacture in Vietnam can't you? It's cheap there too.

China is using slave labour and they suppress the value of their yuan. It's ironic that so many in the U.S complain about corporate greed but rarely speak out against China, their human right abuses or climate impact.

As I've said, so many have been so wrong for so long. Unless China abandons communism, this shift is self defeating. For all of humanity ultimately.

Scores of products manufactured in China are no longer made here so consumers have no choice. Duh! Is YOUR cell phone, tablet, many car parts etc manufactured in Canada?

Are you for real, or what?

We should also not forget the additional government (and deficit) spending represented by the $28 billion spent on farmers. ā€œSince the two trade aid packages were undertaken using CCC’s [Commodity Credit Corporation’s] discretionary authority, no congressional budget offset was required, and administrative PAYGO [the pay as you go budget rule] was not raised,ā€ according to the Congressional Research Service. ā€œThe corporation’s permanent, indefinite funding authority means that trade aid expenditures are reimbursed annually as a net realized loss, thus increasing total federal spending.ā€

After a series of tariff increases on Chinese imports, the government of China retaliated against U.S. exporters, as predicted by trade analysts outside of the administration. As a result, U.S. exports, particularly of agricultural goods, dropped significantly. ā€œLosing the world’s most populous country as an export market has been a major blow to the [U.S.] agriculture industry,ā€ reported the New York Times in August 2019. ā€œTotal American agricultural exports to China were $24 billion in 2014 and fell to $9.1 billion last year, according to the American Farm Bureau.ā€ In 2018, U.S. farmers’ soybean exports to China declined by 75%, according to the U.S. International Trade Commission.

To shore up political support from farmers, Donald Trump approved increasing amounts of government aid to farmers harmed by the trade policies that the Trump administration itself initiated. Trump was open about the purpose of the payments. ā€œI sometimes see where these horrible dishonest reporters will say that ā€˜oh jeez, the farmers are upset,ā€™ā€ he told attendees of an Illinois farmer show in August 2019. ā€œWell, they can’t be too upset, because I gave them $12 billion and I gave them $16 billion this year. . . . I hope you like me even better than you did in ’16.ā€

Are you actually a Republican or pretending to be one? I am surprised that you are asking such silly questions.

Tariffs typically lead to higher prices for consumers. It also shields domestic companies from foreign competition. So, you either pay higher prices or get lower quality goods since there is no competition.

This was supposed to be the Republican bedrock. Being competitive. Free Enterprise. What the heck happened to you guys?
That is an ignorant statement. Tariffs were the bedrock of Republican policies for many decades.

Trump claims to support free trade but fair trade.

Biden is suddenly concerned about the Chinese threat to American jobs in a ludicrous display of election year pandering.

Look what Trump did to the agriculture sector.

Yeah I have no issue with TRUMP giving US farmers money. I do have an issue with the US giving billions to countries flooding our country with illegals.

In my opinion tariffs are a good idea but trump has not properly explained them to the voters

We need tariffs to break the communist manufacturing monopoly

All the jobs will not return to America because we no longer have the will to make things here

But we need a diversified supply chain that does not rely on communist china

The greenies prefer that other nations pollute their environment while providing them with cheap toys

Tarrifs DO affect America because we're the ones as consumers who are paying them, CLOWN.
But at least that extra money stays in America and less goes to china

Trump cost US farmers 515 billion dollars, moron.
No, china did

They did the same thing to Australia and New Zealand who did not elect trump
